Okay, so this isn't really a Tip or Trick but it didn't really fit in the other GNCD forums either. I thought some of you might find in interesting though so I'll post it but if it needs moved etc by the Mods; fair play.
I was going through some stuff at my parents house recently and found an old double VHS cassette from 1993 of a documentary called "A Fairway to Heaven". In it a team of experts including golfers Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf, Gary Player, Ben Crenshaw, Pete Dye, to name a few have put together the "perfect" 18 hole golf course. I remember watching this as a kid with my Grandfather, it was narrated by Alex Hay who was Peter Alliss' co-commentator for many a year at the BBC.
I have a USB TV box for converting VHS tapes which I'm going to run it though so I can watch it again but handily it has the holes of the course listed on the inside.
They are as follows :-
I remember the video being pretty interesting, taking you through each hole and why it was chosen. Each hole is that respective numbered hole on it's original course and I remember they said they could only pick one hole from each course. So no 13th and say the 16th from Augusta National.
What are your thoughts on the choices they made though? That course would probably provide quite the challenge in The Golf Club should it ever be faithfully re-created. I would try myself but I'd never be able to do it any justice.
