Hey guys, I don't really know if you across the pond witness what's happening actually in Europe with thousands of refugees coming from Syria and similar countries to Central Europe (especially Germany and Austria). It doesn't really matter, fact is that my family and I are quiet worried about that situation and we doubt that things will improve again... quite the contrary, we think it's gonna get worse! To cut a long story short, we are actually discussing about emigrating before it's too late... and that's were I need your help: We thought that Canada might be a very good idea for emigration, as it seems to be a very secure & beautiful place to live. If we really decided to emigrate, what are the key points we have to think about/do/fulfill to make this "idea" even possible?Google is telling me a lot of course, but it's always good to hear it from someone who actually lives there, so I thought I might ask you guys! Maybe someone can help me! If not, that's fine too! Cheers!

Not yet, but I'll definitely do that if/once we finally decide to emigrate. Or even before.

Still a lot of things to think about and plan, and not even sure if we'll make it at all. Early stage of planning! But that sounds good.

Because of several reasons we are thinking of looking for a real estate around Toronto. To narrow it down, the area around Lake Simcoe.
Would someone recommend that? Is it a good place to live?

No, that's rather easy!
Looks like we've looked it up/read about like you tell it. Should be quiet a nice area I guess. That's at least one point where we can/could start at...

It's a very nice place to live and probably the most affordable outside of the GTA (greater Toronto area). I live close to Lake Simcoe so if you need anything let me know.

I'm curious about how the situation on the labor market is right now?
From what I read on the internet, Canada is always looking for (foreign) qualified employees, but how is it for a normal person looking for work? While I might find a job within my current company, this is still an essential info for me... and my wife of course! We both have general qualification for university entrance (I'm not quiet sure right now what our degree is called in english), so I really hope we would have decent chances to find a (good) job.

Won't you need visas to get in and probably employment to get the visas... It's not like most countries just let people move there without reason? Maybe Canada is an exception but it's usually not that simple to move countries.

No, it's not that simple as in most European countries for example. You have to fulfill certain criteria(s), eg. Job, Age, Language, etc.
But we checked that already, and it should be possible.
