Given that getting a course on tour is a fantastic way for a designer to get more plays, and potentially even earn some recognition, I'd like to suggest a way to maximize the number of designers showcased throughout TGCT. While it wouldn't be entirely true to life, every once in a while I think it might be fun to have a multi-round tournament staged over multiple courses. The courses could be carefully selected to be similar in theme and style, reflecting fictional geographic proximity, and even just an ABAB tournament would double the number of courses showcased.
We do a lot to accommodate players of all levels in the Challenge Circuit, and maybe this would help if players find that they don't particularly like a course - only playing it once or twice in a tournament might be a lot more bearable than 4 rounds. Another "benefit" (both sides of the coin could be argued here, I'm not going to pretend that they can't) is that players will be tested more thoroughly, rather than finding that one course is peculiarly well suited to their game, or they have played it numerous times.
I can understand that people might be against this idea, but I think it would be interesting to see what effect this has on scores, as well as benefitting designers. Of course, my dream TGCT is different to a lot of other people's dream TGCT, and we probably all have our own wishes for where we head, but maybe people would agree with me?

That's basically what we try to achieve with the RRCC-Tour on PS4!
