Hey folks! I just finished q-school with an underwhelming +24, humbled me a bit. And then played my first round in CC-A and am sitting dead last so I don't know how long I will last in this flight haha but I'm looking forward to adding this competition level to TGC. One question, did you guys find it hard to adjust and meet your own expectations when first starting out on your respective tours? Thanks guys, have been lurking on this community for awhile now and look forward to meet you out on the course!

I can answer you by my own experience. I did not have expectations, just playing and having fun in great courses. After three tournaments I got demoted, so my skills are.... bad, but i have fun in awesome courses. For me that's more than enough

Welcome to tgctours. First don't worry about sitting last on the leaderboard, to be put straight into cc-a from q school means you can play and it's only a matter of time before you find your stride. I don't really have expectations either, what I do have is goals. Each event I set myself a small goal, this can vary depending on course, like a bogey free round, things like that. Then I have a larger goal, maybe, top 50, top 30. These are harder to reach but adds something to aim for. Then there is the ultimate goal, stage a coup and take over tgctours but the less said about that the better. It's ok to miss these goals, they just little challenges to help push myself along. Over time, the goals change but the fun stays. Like Pablo, I have been demoted and to be honest, it did not bother me, I had fun trying to avoid, I am having fun trying to get promoted. The key word is fun, enjoy yourself out there and you will find things falling into place quickly. One thing you don't expect when starting is nerves. Playing on tour can be surprisingly nerve racking, practice scores go out the window, so for your first couple of events, I would not worry about leaderboards, just till you are used to it. But if you get even half the amount of enjoyment I have gotten here, you are in for a hell of a ride.

One thing you don't expect when starting is nerves. Yes, that's very true and also surprising. I don't use to be the kind of guy who gets focused in videogaming like creating a zen environment, isolating myself and so on. But when I'm playing my round and I receive a whatsapp message or whatever, it's like "Venga joder, que estoy en mitad de un torneo" which in english would be something like "F**k, I'm compiting"

Welcome to TGCTours lizirdking. I didn't really have expectations when I joined. I played a few rounds, heard about the tour here, and tried Q School. It was way harder than I expected and I thought I did really poor. But I got placed here in CCA and was excited to compete. My first tournament was bad. I hadn't learned the nuances of the game and struggled to score. And as I watched the leaderboard keep distancing itself from me, I thought I'd never come close. The last part has been true - I rarely finish in the top 50. My only top 10 finish was on a course everyone complained about And the only other good finish I had was ruined by me not reading the rules and doing something illegal (so I recommend reading those all the way through - will save some heartache!). It's been interesting for the short time I've been here. It's crazy how good some of the people are in this flight and am actually surprised they haven't moved up at this point! Being the end of the season there's no option for that until the W40 championship. It can be a kick in the cookies when I have two good rounds and still find myself 8 shots back from the leader! My game has gotten slightly better, but I'm not good enough to be a consistent contender. I think season 2 will see some more parity in the flights (at least I hope so).

Q-School placement was relaxed a bit a month ago. As a result, I think a lot of new people coming in this month feel like they got placed in a tad bit high of a flight.
I had something like a +36 or +38 in Q-School in July and got placed in CC-C. Had I been a few strokes worse off, I would have been in CC-D. Under current rules I would be in CC-B.
The powers that be made the changes because they were finding that too many people were filtering down through the flights through the three strike policy, but not enough people were moving up. The change in Q-School, along with the loosened restrictions on picking up a sponsors exemption has helped populate the higher CC's with more people. This was better than having CC-D with 200+ players each week.

This was better than having CC-D with 200+ players each week. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Too many people in the lower divisions would make moving up even harder. I saw some suggestions about Q-School that made sense. Structuring the 6 rounds with 2 easy courses (CC-like), then 2 medium (Web-like), then 2 hard (PGA/Euro-like) might be a better indicator. Right now Q School is very difficult and I imagine most people are just not prepared to play courses with those setups. I certainly wasn't. My biggest issue is the wind and getting my approach close in those conditions. Maybe the new wind patch will help with this (though I've yet to play it). I don't remember my exact scenario with Q-School, but I took an 11 on 2 separate holes. That put me at +7 for the tournament. But I don't belong in the Web tour which is where I might have landed without those disaster holes.
