So in the review of The Oaks at Westchester Job seemed to really like the edges of my ponds/lakes. I figured I'd just let you all know how they were accomplished. It's REALLY REALLY easy.
I'm sure most of you were like me and figured that a nice shallow slope from land to water would give you the best results. Nope. Totally wrong.
Here's what you do. Go ahead and get your land shaped how you want near the water. If you want the ground to be near water level that's fine but give yourself a little room as this process will eat up some of your ground.
Once your happy grab a hard edged circular or oblong raise tool and head into the water. You want to get near the shore and lower the CRAP out of that water. You want it deep, not shallow. This will give the land a much more rounded edge than you would ever get with a slight slope. This WILL get rid of all the lilly pads and stuff sticking out of the water so you won't be able to plant anything near the edges and expect them to show up. To do that you'll have to go out just a tad and flatten an area to a more shallow depth.
See? Easy. Just play with it. The results are great.

I would love to see a screenshot or a video on that technique. I'm working on creating some marshes on my design and i want to make them as realistic as possible.
