Since my course is hosting it, I'm anxious to hear all the thoughts so far from people who have played some rounds. I'm happy with how it played for me. It seemed like the right amount of difficulty. The winds were persistent. I imagine #5 and #13 on Friday should play as some of the hardest holes on TGCT this year. My winds were roughly 11, 12, 16, and it was 13 on the first tee of round 4. Those fluctuated a bit through the round but that was my opening tee speeds.

Looks like the opening round is 12mph against. This is one of those courses that look a lot easier than it is. The pins overall are quite fair and you can fire at most of them with the appropriate wind, even when some are tucked. At the same time, there are plenty of places you can find yourself in trouble. There is one hole that I 4 putted from about 6 feet LOL from birdie to triple just like that.
It is a good test and while -12, -13 is possible, I would be very impressed by anyone that can put together 4 rounds like that as it is so easy to settle for par on many holes. My guess the winning score will be right around -40.
My practice rounds lately have been ranging from -7 to -11. I was very happy with a -9 on the Sunday pins with 13mph winds for most of it. Earlier against Brionne I managed a -9 on Thursday pins with similar winds, but then I watched Bradley demolish the course with a -13 with low winds. We'll have to see how the winds pan out.

I just finished all 4 rounds for this week.... and I'll tell ya, with these winds it sure was a grind. Overall, I liked the course though. Felt like there were a lot of holes where I actually had to think about where I wanted to aim my tee shots, if I should lay up or go for it and where to attack pins. There were a few quirks though, I can't remember which hole but it was in round 2 both mine and CGilb's ghost ball landed dead center of the fairway but shot almost straight left on the first bounce and into a bunker. That was kind of odd. Also had a few shots land on the green only to roll completely off and into bunkers as well, kind of frustrating but the winds didn't help that lol.
I think the winning scores are going to be a lot lower than people think, I watched the Masters champ shoot even par one of his rounds. It's just so easy to have a blow up hole at some point in each round with the winds up and some holes missing by a just a little bit leads to a disaster.

Yeah I'd be shocked if anyone gets to -40. I'm thinking low 30's. I'm at -21 through 3 rounds. The Friday setup is hard to score on even with low winds, and the 12-13 doesn't help. Then Saturday which is usually the easiest to score on, has 16 mph winds. Lol

Course ate me up. Maybe it was all of the shadows on the greens that made my putting suffer. I had some awful approaches as I was trying to do too much with difficult shot opportunities. Wind makes this course a beast. I had quite a few "ball squirts" that raised my score. I've noticed that my controller stick is starting to wear down, I'm gonna replace it and see if it helps. I hope that the game is not thinking that the worn stick is "modifying" the axis. I understand that the game incorporates squirt when it detects axis mod.

I made a test drive and scored +3 When you start , I find it hard to -5 per round . I hope I'm wrong and play very well .

Just played a practice round in 18mph winds. If we have winds this high in the tournament yeah my -40 is no where close.. There were a few holes, including the island green, you can't reach in two with the winds I played. Was happy with my +1.
There is another par four I played that I hit a pitch shot from 40 yards (after going into the water once) it rolled up to the cup and spun back about 1 foot then rolled all the way back into the water. I never noticed this when playing it before.. Wow.
So how are the actual conditions?

I've played rounds one and two with a tee shot on #1 in Rd. 3. Course really had me concentrating because the winds were enough to make me think out each shot. I think I often score better in the 9-13 mph range than 5-8 mph because I think each shot out, but with 5-8 I sometimes play lazy and just move my aim over and don't actually look at the green for a proper landing place.
I think the fairways are about right width wise, and then a few holes' fairway bunker placement had me questioning using driver or not. Somewhere in there I tee'd off with less than driver on a par 5 and played it a 3 shot hole when I'm pretty sure if I were to hit driver I could've had a go at a guarded green, but I didn't want to play from a fairway bunker if I mishit just a bit.
The first par 5 is very well designed to protect against a simple eagle putt or chip. First you have the tree in the way, and then there is a false front that in one of the first two rounds has the pin just a little behind it. A very well judged shot would get you close I think, but I ran my ball halfway up the false front and it came back and had a bigtime uphill putt.
I think so far I am putting the ball better than I did @ the Wyndham and Barclays, but I'll save judgement on the greens once I play the last two rounds.

There are a LOT of false fronts.. play longer or you'll be in a well placed bunker.

I've had my controller since XB1 launch day and between myself and my son it's had better days lol. I feel like I've been getting a lot more of this recently too, along with a seemingly higher than normal amount of perfectly straight white lined shots as well.

Well it CAN be done.. 13mph round 1 practice and I scored -11... 4 chip ins tho.... There were a couple -10 or better rounds in round 1 on the XB1. I don't think I saw any in rounds 2-4 though... although only a handful of people had played all 4 rounds when I was done.

Well I finished at -26. Final round really frustrated me. I hit almost every single shot exactly the way I wanted to but just couldn't hold any putts. The winds are mostly 14 mph and they go in the direction you'd rather them not on nearly every hole it seems. I never thought my own course could frustrate me so much, but it did!

I really like the course Tyler. The only thing getting me through the practice and round1 is some lag on the front nine. Seems like when there's lag in my swing, I tend to snap hook it. Hit 2 outside the cone. Luckily I still posted a decent r1 score, but easily could have been 2-3 shots better.
