I used to love this course from TW14. Good luck with the project - can't wait to give it a play.

Good luck with this! Loved this course for years on the "other" series.

Thanks everyone. Should be a heck of a task. I have various things I'm using for flyovers and info. One of them is a flyover comp by an expert on pgatour.com and he's using the perfect golf version I believe. I also have a TW 2014 video up that has a guy playing a round just to get some different angles and elevations. Then I have the google maps layout of it with an interactive yardage map attached. I've got strackaline pro with the lasered greens showing slope percentages, and I've also got Scott Percy's yardage book from the tour championship. So, I've got plenty of info! Haha

I think Duke is on a mission to host both the Race to Dubai AND the Tour Championship! Looking good so far! I love re-creations!

Decided to get some updated pictures that compare to the other pictures to show my work so far. Here they are: Need to raise the left side of the green a bit and then I'm basically done with #1. Tree work will fill on the sides once #2,3, and 9 are in. From the tee box From the fairway Above looking at the green Perfect Golf image:

Greens are so key - are you going to slope match since you have the Stracka? You aware of the HB post of what the colors correspond to for different speeds?

You aware of the HB post of what the colors correspond to for different speeds? yep, I worked on #1 green for awhile to match Stracka as much as I could. The green slopes over 2 feet from back to front, which I've pretty much replicated. East Lake is very much a traditional styled course so most greens are pretty strongly back to front sloped. I'm not sure which HB post you're talking about, so if you could link me to that, it'd be great.

Hmm, interesting. I'm trying to interpret these slope percentages on Stracka they give to make it a numeric thing on TGC but I'm not sure how. I've had more success using the interactive putting on the app where I can see the amount downhill and putts slope on the green. Not sure how I could use the maps they give with the slope percentage and numbers. Any advice on that?

www.engineeringtoolbox.com/slope-degrees-gradient-grade-d_1562.htmlGoogle at your service. I found making Tobo that if you get the elevations close the green kind of takes care of it self. Thinking about sculpting the green area rather than creating slopes on a green may give better results. Just thought it could be a help if colors matched up with the stracka green. Then its really too bad that HB has taken away the option of making a real tour or championship set up by limiting slope at 8.5... And then we have people complaining about fast greens... This game really does mimic real life golf.... For a goat track like Tobo it worked out perfectly and the greens play very close to the real thing.

I do wish the greens were even faster. But people would be upset. They don't realize that their follow through on the game is so much faster than a real life stroke which is why the ball goes so far. So did you have a slope percentage number that you think translated to yellow slope and then red slope? I'm thinking 8-10 yellow and 10< red?

Going by the charts and fastest green setting - 4.5 should be yellow and 6.8 or so red... If you go slower, your numbers seem about right.
You are right on the stroke in game - so greens do feel a bit faster. Then there is also the old overestimation effect. We usually think 8ish greens run 10 or 11 IRL as well. Classic exaggeration bias. 8.5 is not that slow, generally speaking... For tour prep - its like mud of course.
