Another inconsistent day on the course for me. Started with an ugly triple, but found a groove near the end of the front nine, then lost it again on the back. Took some video of a couple shots today. This first one is me going for it in two on the par 5 17th hole. A 270 yard drive left me with about 220 over water with a hybrid. Wasn't having the greatest game so I figured I go for it. Just cleared the water and made par..although I should have made birdie. (Yes I am aware of my GIANT backswing) Here's a slow mo of my drive on 18..was one of the best of the day!

Haha... happy to see I'm not the only one with that annoying flying elbow!

Is your favorite player John daly by any chance - Canuck?
Downswing looking good - but that arm overrun is not healthy for the consistency. Bet it goes a long way when you clock one though....
Looks like a nice course!

Looks like a nice course! That big backswing creeped into my game a couple years ago and I've been trying to get rid of it, but it doesn't feel like I'm making a full swing when I shorten it and I don't make a full turn and end up slicing!

Hey Andre, we could share a teaching Pro. I suffer the exact same problem(s). Anything else than overswinging just doesn't feel like a (full) golf swing to me. I often tried to get rid of it... I always failed.

Best advice I can give you two is to try a short pause at the top on the shorter backswing. That should let you feel like your body gets fully turned.

The pause is a good way to get 100% consistently, for sure.

I've actually shortened my backswing considerably in the last couple of years and instead focused on pinching the ball a bit more than I used to. Has helped with consistency a lot. Still working on distance consistency but direction is better. Honestly it doesn't matter how you get there... as long as your impact is good you're fine.
