I had high minded ideas of making Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, but thus far, I'm finding it endlessly frustrating.
Using Google Maps and a few websites, I really haven't had any trouble getting it roughed out (hole shape and distance, greens, fairways, bunkers, etc). The terrain has been a major problem though. I set "trees", "hills" and "water" to minimum, and it is just a mess, rocks everywhere, etc. Trying to touch it up with brushes is giving me really weird, horrible looking shapes. Also, getting nice widths for my fairways and roughs (especially keeping the rough a constant width relative to the fairway) has been difficult.
Lastly, when I try to elevate a green, it really goes to crap. I dunno, just thought you guys might know some tricks. But I'm about ready to give up course building on Xbox.

I guess to be more specific... is it better to make your terrain first? Or to rough out the course first? How "big" of brushes do you use to get decent looking fairway terrain?

We're going to start some instructional videos here shortly. I think they will answer a lot of your questions. I may do a TWITCH session one day on the basics.

What is it with the rocks anyways, anytime you make a slight adjustment, literally hunddreds of rocks just appear.
