Everything so far PGA is fast greens. I get more screwed up than usual going back to 144 to 160 greens for sure. thats whats happened to me lately, ive played too many fast courses then the tour played some slower ones and my putting touch went out the window till this week. I also went back to little brook to practice the slowest greens around and sharpen my short game

Well, they sent the tour card. SwAreomotion was right. I qualified for the CC-B tour card. It isn’t the worst tour card, but it isn't the best either. Definitely wasn't doing the Snoopy Dance over here. Not by a long shot. So much for getting my PGA tour card right off the bat. Yet another dream dashed on the rocks of reality. I’m sure Mr. “-60 Under Par” got his PGA tour card. It was probably like when Charlie found the golden ticket in his chocolate bar. TGC probably sent him a whole case of Arnold Palmer’s Ice Tea too. For free! Elite players are always treated better than the rest of us common-folk. I'm pretty sure that Mr. “-60 Under Par” was probably doing the Snoopy Dance at home, piano playing and everything. Yeah, and you know who probably delivered that delicious Arnold Palmer ice tea to Mr. "-60 Under Par"? Don’t know? Well, I’ll tell you. Natalie Gulbis, that’s who! She probably brought Anna “Alotta Leg” Rawson with her too. Both of them were probably sitting with Mr. “-60 Under Par”, doing tequila shooters, and giggling and telling him how good of a TGC golfer he is.
"Oh, Mr. -60 Under Par, you're such a good TGC golfer....and you're so damn cute too! HeHe...."
Do you know who TGC would send to my house if they were going to give me anything?
That's who.
Yeah, Mr. “-60 Under Par” is living the good life now while the rest of us are struggling to stay afloat. But that’s all right. Sure my dreams of having a PGA tour card were completely destroyed; sure I had to buy another controller; sure I had to go to Home Depot to buy some plaster to cover up the fist-sized holes in my wall, but none of that matters. I got my smokes, my Gentleman Jack, and my new controller. I’m registered for my first tour event. I’m your huckleberry….

I don't know what you do for a living - are you the Mort of MortRadio? I looked that up. I'll be listening when it kicks off next month for sure. Very funny stuff.

What I found today playing the q-school and as a course designer who has submitted my first course for the tour over the last few day's is all the things they say they don't want you to design a course like ie: narrow fairway, fairways pinched in on landing areas, really sloping greens, etc: etc: three out of the six courses had all theses things in abundance, to the point where quite a few holes were bordering on the unfair, unless they are testing your course management to reject a shot because off the unfairness and see if you'll lay up and accept the best you can do on this hole is a par, or a cricket score. I finished +7 overall because I played conservatively and accepted some of the courses were crazy I was hoping a course in q-school would be the best of the best not a reason to take a Valium, they reminded me of my early courses where I must have been in a fiendish mood while creating them, I play my old courses now and wonder what the heck I was thinking, I didn't expect similar ones to turn up in q-school. I'm about to start my qualifying but before I signed up I thought I'd try some of the courses as a practice and although some of the courses might have changed, this post still applies. I've got a +4 handicap and I shot +7 on Old Beaver Creek alone and I was pretty happy with that score. The greens in particular are very difficult with holes cut on slopes and near ridges (which makes chipping close virtually impossible). When I saw that 20 over for all six rounds was the bottom tour card it made me wonder whether, with my projected +42 score, I would be able to compete on this tour even on the lowest level, but this thread has eased my concerns a bit. I'm quite happy to be on the lowest rated tour but if I'm bottom of the leader board every week I might get a bit of a complex. Having said all this, I really like the look of this tour and community and I think I am really going to enjoy being a part of it.

So I did my official qualifying last night and scored +22. It was evil in places, but the biggest problems I had was with the greens - so many had a lot of red and yellow grid colouring and the holes were cut on slopes or even in 'bowls' in a couple of places. I didn't mind being punished for being too inaccurate with my approaches, but what I did find hard to take was being punished even when I hit a good shot. There were a few occasions when I hit a shot that was close to the pin from some way out, only to watch it roll down a long slope 30 feet from the pin. Shawnee in particular felt like a lottery - but I got the reassurance of seeing my "ghost" players floundering on the greens alongside me. I've played Shawnee three times now and hit +9, -3 and +11. There were a couple of times when I got so resigned to it all that I stopped really thinking much about the shots just to get through it as quickly as possible. But anyway, it's done now and I can hopefully have a less fraught experience on the CC-E tour.

I ended up on +25 mainly thanks to 87 on the second course, and like you said I think that got to a point where I lost the plot a bit and just got through it. Whether they've got the balance quite right I'm not sure because you end up with some pretty good players going in to CC-E which might not be completely fair on the guys already in there. It's fun working your way up though, which I'm sure you will! I came 5th in my first tourney, then 2nd in CC-D and now looking at another top 10 (I hope) in CC-C. The community is brilliant, it's the best gaming experience in my 30odd years of gaming. Don't be put off, you'll be fine

Just finished up my Q-School rounds with a +28. Not what I had projected for myself but also not too far off so no disappointment here. +11 on second course really threw a wrench in things. I really didn't have one big blow up on one hole ( well not Jordan Spieth on 12 at Masters blow up.... Wow is that already a thing) but pretty much bad putting was my problem. Oh well, I love the community that has been built here and I look forward to playing on the tour. Thanks to all involved. Off to the practice green. See you at the clubhouse bar. Cheers!

I think I might be the worst to ever go through Q-School.
I had played a total of 5 rounds (4 at Black Brook and 1 at Flathead) with my best score being 4 over at Black Brook; I thought I was ready and I was so wrong. I started fairly well in each round before a mistake or two would creep in and then I'd just lose my head completely. I finished 108 shots over par, yes I actually hit triple figures.
However it did teach me quite a bit and as soon as I finished I went to Black Brook and shot a personal best of 1 under par, beating my best by 5 shots.
Q-School was brutal and if anyone is reading this who hasn't entered yet, make sure you're ready.

I can beat that. 120 over in January, and was hoping the leaderboard got refreshed in Feb to clear my miserable score away, but no, it's still there? Anyway, just to tell you that 3 months later I have made my way to CC A so don't worry about it. Plenty of tips on this site helped me, plus more practice of course. I have seen plenty of players improve rapidly since I have been on here. I wasn't ready for the full ins and outs of the game at the time, but it's fun working your way up. Good luck, I am sure you will enjoy the ride.

When you played 120 over in January, I guess you were placed in the CC E flight but could someone re-try Q-School the very next month in the hope of doing better and move up to a upper flight or did someone re-evaluate you scores during those 3 months and you graduated because of this?

could someone re-try Q-School the very next month in the hope of doing better and move up to a upper flight You cannot redo Q-School. You'll be able to move up through the flights by earning exemptions and promotions. If you finish in the top 15% of CC-E for a tournament, you'll earn an exemption to play in CC-D the next week. Finish in the top half of the field and earn a promotion to CC-D. Most players have this type of career arc. They play Q-School and post terrible scores, then improve their game and start earning promotions. Instead of placing every new player in CC-E blindly, Q-School is meant to identify the obviously superior players.
