Plenty of people that don't agree with that. Some real gems that are played in Q-school and they have stood up to the test of time remarkably well.

Hi everyone, new TGC player here. I came across this website after purchasing the game and I have to say this is one the best concepts that I have seen and amazingly well managed.
I just started the Q School tour after playing the game for about a week. I had a handicap of around 3 and I was shooting rounds well under par on some courses so I assumed I was good to go... That was not a good assumption. Halfway through the tour and I have scores of +6, +11, +13. I think I'm trying to be too aggressive in many situations and putting myself in bad situations. It was reminiscent of my actual golf game... I was also burning edges like crazy in my last two rounds and was close to losing it.
I have come to the conclusion that I will be one one of the lower tours and hopefully I can improve my game.

Also i would say, practice putting on a few fastish greens as that is becoming the norm in new courses and on tour. you most likely will end up in a lower tour but you will improve and move up.

Just signed up myself this week and started my Q School last night. I bought The Golf Club pretty early on in EA, but really struggled with the swing mechanics. It seems to be much more refined now and I am glad I gave it another chance. Even better, there is now an excellent tour for it! I am really glad I found this site and tour as I have been waiting for something similar to The Links Tour we used to play back with Links 386 Pro and using a Modem and BBS to submit scores. It got a little expensive as we paid for the privilege to play back then, but you could win back credit and were mailed a plaque if you won a tournament. I still have my plaque from the mid 90s . Looking forward to the slow grind learning the game and hopefully improving my skills. I remember a lot of improving back in the day was learning the courses so hopefully that will improve in time along with my putting, which is hurting me the most right now. Oh, and the front nine of my first round was quite amazing. I started out with a couple birdies in the first 3 holes followed by a 9! I then eagled No. 9 and the roller coaster smoothed out a bit on the back nine and finished with a 75, heh. My second round was a rough 81 as I fought the greens most of the round. I believe they were slow, but I guess I haven't figured out how to check that yet. I can't wait to get some sort of tour card and start the real tournaments!

The main part is to be able to handle slow and fast green speeds, if you can, you will def enjoy your time on tour goodluck when you get your card and see you on tour.

Thanks for the tip on the putting.
Hmm, I am wondering if I screwed up on my Q School. I started a couple days ago in January and still have 3 rounds to complete, but will I still be okay to continue that one or will I have to start over on the Feb Q School event?

Well, I finished it....at least I can say that much. I was able to plow through the weeds of misery to get to the finish of the Q-School. Six rounds of sadistic torment that brought me into a sickening addiction. Yes, I screamed at the monitor. Yes, I wept in frustration. Yes, I thought that Gabriel the Angel had bought down eternal punishment for all my sins. This is what Q-School did to me. And now I have submitted my scores. That was three hours ago, and I STILL DON'T HAVE MY TOUR CARD!!! I finally posted -17 under par for the six rounds. It was the most painful -17 under par that ever walked the face of this earth. But that wasn't the worse of it. There was "Mr. -60 Under Par". That's right. There was one crazed bugger who was -60 under par at the end of six rounds. WTH!!!! Are you kidding me!?! What super-human gets -60 under par in Q-School? Has he been blessed? Did he make a pact with the devil?
I think my controller is still working though. I didn't throw it against the wall too hard, at least not the first couple of times. I did resort to having a couple of Gentlemen Jacks over ice by the ending holes of final round just to keep my hands from shaking so bad. Thank goodness I had a carton of Marlboros with me, so I had that base covered. I kept chewing on low-dose aspirin to keep my blood pressure down, but the pain in my right temple isn't going away. Maybe when I get my tour card my head will feel better. It has been three hours and fifteen minutes now....WHERE IS IT!?! Please, if you have any pity, give me my tour card.... Anyway, I hope everybody is having a good day....even the guy who got -60 under par. Please, where's my tour card....

With creative posts like that you will fit in with this community. The Admins will get to issuing you a card soon enough. -17 is a pretty good score. The -60 could have been (I have no idea without looking) a current player just testing themselves. If I am reading correctly, a -17 will get you a CC-B card once it is issued.

I think I shot +37 during Q-School back in July. So -17 is great!
And yes, current players do test themselves on there from time to time.

HA! Love that post. Welcome aboard. -17 is extremely good and should place you in a top tour (not sure - don't know the rules any more).
I often play Q-school just to see if I've improved over time. They recently changed up the courses so I haven't tried it yet. -60 is low though....definitely wasn't me. I might get there if I combined 3 play throughs of it.

My best in the original Q-School was around -30 and that number about doubled with the new Q-School. Not as many fast greens on the new set.

Everything so far PGA is fast greens. I get more screwed up than usual going back to 144 to 160 greens for sure.
