not really sure where im going with this course, so i started with the damned clubhouse, and that aint even done yet.
got 1 hole layed out, its bare, not much terrain shaping done, no bunkers, flat green, etc, but the layout is there.
not sure if that will be hole 9 or 18, prolly hole 18.
its a 450 yard par 4, with 2 options off the tee box: 3 iron/5wood layed up to the right or a driver to the left. each shot has its advantage, the layed up shot offers an approach of about 180 yards give or take, but a much better angle to the pin. the driver side shot offers a longer drive, leaving you 160 yards to the pin, but a bad angle coming in.
I am unsure if i want firm settings here, or not.
anyhoot, i finally got the land at the perfect level (height) to match the top of the retaining wall, ive tried and tried and tried to get the entire plot to do this before with much fail. but now i got it, and its going to save me a ton of time.
theme?
-i really wanted to do delta, but i just can't get it going in there, it looks so "bleh" with the contrast from heavy rough strait to white dirt, i wish it would blend in better and much softer, even the softest brushes seem hard here.
-highlands looks really good, but i just got finished making two courses on highlands, so im kinda sliding that option as a last case scenario
-tropical? this may be the ticket, just gotta find a way to not use those scrubs, they just dont do it for me.
-harvest? i love the harvest theme, i love everything about it.
-boreal? not sure if that is the best setting for a resort style course.
-countryside? na, i dont like this theme as much as some of the others above.
-desert? another theme i love, may test it out here
i will be building this course much like i did redwood elite, laying down a mass chunk of fairway, and chipping away at it, but instead of covering the entire plot, ill just lay down a large section on each hole area. building fairways is so much faster this way, and quite clean too, but if you are into adding a perfect line of light rough around the fairway, this method is not for you.
i aint doing any train tracks, railroads, airpots, though i may have to retry a harbour, my last one failed bad and i ended up deleting it off McKee and turned that area into cliffs with a beach.
I like the look and feel of the more open courses, maybe desert is the right fit here.
