Anthony explained how the winds are selected in tournament rounds.
When the event is published it takes a snapshot of when the event is published (not 100% sure on this, could be slightly random) and pulls the wind MPH - add a bit of variance in and that's the wind you'll see that round. For round two they jump 24 hours ahead and pull wind speed then. Rinse repeat for all rounds.

Is that not bad? We thought it was based on an algorythm on the name but what happens in Xbox One tour is created an hour after the PS4? Does that open it up to issues?
How quick does the wind change based on start time? Minutes? Hours?

I'm guessing it looks at when the first system's tourney is created and from then on the other systems have the same winds.

That sounds really bad compared to random seed based on name...

There is no way it would know What i mean't is the "NAME" of the tourney. HB's servers would surely know when a certain name is used first no matter what system.

It will be still based on tournament name as well. It will use that for the seed for the randomness.

It will be still based on tournament name as well. It will use that for the seed for the randomness. Ah so the initial tournament wind is determined by the tournament name then it zooms 24hrs 48hrs and 72hrs into the future and pulls the wind for other rounds? If so then all gravy!

I believe so. It's easily tested by creating two tournaments on the same course, and have different tourney names. The slight difference in time should be irrelevant.

What if you play round 4 of the tournament after 30 hours. What wind do you get then? You've not reached the point where it was set.

What if you play round 4 of the tournament after 30 hours. What wind do you get then? You've not reached the point where it was set. By the sound of it, when the tournament is created the game goes into the future and pulls back what the wind speeds would be. So it doesnt matter when you play your 4th round. That will be the wind that it pulled back at creation

Fair enough. It'll be interesting to see how it works out. It should be fine. Generally we've seen pretty high winds in most tournaments but it just sounds like it'll even out over time.

Tourney creators just need to coordinate on publish time. There's only 3, shouldn't be that difficult. #CalmDown

Even if for example a PC tourney was created now, then PS4 in 3 days and XB1 3 days after PS4 then they would still have the same winds because of the name being the same.

No - looks like the naming hook was dropped.
