I was aggressive in the practice tourney trying to carry areas because I had the wind.. None of those shots worked and it cost me.. But now I know not to try that in the tourney.. 5 wood off the tee on this course on many holes is a good idea.. The problem is the greens don't hold if you're using mid-irons into the greens. You gotta go front edge and hope you roll somewhere close if you hit from anything over 120 out. I prefer to bomb it off the tee and get as close to the green as possible on a course like this because a lob or PW will grab more than a 6 or 7 iron in.

I can't get past the fact that these are some of the worst pins I've seen. Such a great looking course ruined by terribly placed pins. 1st hole is a joke pin. Anyone who plays real golf knows that the area surrounding any pin location should only be sloped gently. www.usga.org/RulesFAQ/rules_answer.asp?FAQidx=143&Rule=16Check out guideline #3 from that link. I can't remember the hole number, the short par 4, basically has a 5 foot radius around the hole, where, if you don't land it inside this radius, you'll run off the green. I also love the 200 yard approach shots, into the wind, at a pin that is perched right at the top of a huge tiered green.

The course layout is gorgeous but the greens and pins are somewhat laughable in my opinion. All that work ruined by adding mini golf pin placements and greens in my opinion. Hey...some like cheese some don't. In case anyone is too lazy to follow wood1341's link to the USGA Guidelines here is what it reads. An area two to three feet in radius around the hole should be as nearly level as possible and of uniform grade. In no case should holes be located in tricky places, or on sharp slopes where a ball can gather speed. A player above the hole should be able to stop the ball at the hole.
Almost every green on this course breaks that rule.

Almost every green on this course breaks that rule. Totally agreed! There's too much fantasy involved here.
