"Demotions on the Challenge Circuit will utilize a three strike system. If you finish outside the Top 70 in your flight for an event (and you played all 4 rounds), you will be assessed a strike."
This is what is stated in the rules. The part that I don't understand is "and you played all 4 rounds". Surely this mean that it is impossible to get demoted as anyone about to get demoted could just not submit there R4 score. If everybody did this there would never been any demotions.
Would it not make more sense to assign people a strike that register and don't submit their scores?

If they register and don't submit their scores two weeks in a row they are suspended for a week. So I can't see anyone doing that. But even if they did, too many DQ's and you can lose your card altogether.
All that said, though, the point of the demotion system is to move people down to a playing level where they may be more competitive. Most people will want that to occur if they aren't competitive. But even if they don't, I don't think that upsets the competitive balance.

I only brought it up as I saw several people on two strikers that submitted 3 scores but didn't submit the 4th as they weren't going to make top 70.

I'd like you to use the information from the API to work out who has not inputted scores because they were going to get a strike. I can see a situation where people will be happy to take 1 DQ so they don't get their 3rd strike. They will then make sure that they don't get one the week after.

Hmm I understand both points but it feels unfair at the minute. Here's a question: If they don't enter their scores and are classed as DQ'ing do they get punished more in the world rankings compared to if they just didn't register for the event? This would make it feel a little bit fairer.

If you register and don't play at all then something maybe came up and I wouldn't punish people for that. However If someone on 2 strikers shoots in the first 3 rounds +4, +10 and +8. The cut for the Top 70 is say 2 under. It is realistically impossible for them to make the Top 70. However by not submitting R4 they avoid demotion.
If it was me I would take an average total of the rounds they completed. If they completed 3 Rounds take 98% of this total, 2 rounds 96% and 1 round 94% (Or other values chosen by Tim, Doyley, etc.). If this value is outwith the score of the Top 70 players. Then they should be given a demotion strike.
R1 R2 R3 R4 Total Top 70 Demotion Strike P1 80 79 81 WD 320 280 320*0.98 = 313.6 (YES) P2 69 71 WD WD 280 280 280*0.96 = 268.8 (NO) P3 85 WD WD WD 340 280 280*0.96 = 319.6 (YES)

I just got demoted from CC-D to CC-E and in all reality it was where I should have been from the beginning. I got my 3 strikes in the first 3 tournaments I played in. If someone shoots a +12, +15, and +17 in the first 3 rounds and does not post a score for the 4th round, they are not going to be playing on TGCT for long. They will get frustrated and quit (or start over with a different name). I would love to be able to play in the PGA level, but I know I'm no where near where those guys are.
Maybe if you are on 2 strikes and get 2 straight DQs you get suspended for 1 week and demoted one level.

I got my 1st strike last week and I am sitting 2nd last this week. I will definitely get strike 3 next week. I think if you finish in the bottom 20 golfers 2 weeks in a row..you should automatically move down a level. I know I'll eventually be in CC-Z..but looking at the scores the past 2 weeks..it's where I belong right now as I struggle to learn this game. Taking a constant beating does nothing for someone's confidence..and I'm certain a good number of people have just said the hell with the frustration.

At some point you'll start making big improvements, it happens to most. I was in the same position as you a few months back. I'm not great now by any means but I'm much better than I was. Keep it up. Use these next few weeks to try and improve your game and if you do go down to CC-Z you'll be in a better place to compete and move back up.

Like me, I think quite a few players get frustrated having to play all 4 rounds as there is no cut line... at least with a cut line you know there's no need to tee up for rounds 3 & 4 to avoid a DQ.

Just because you're doing badly doesn't mean you should quit. Play 4 rounds and finish as high as you can.

I just preferred it when there was a cut line to aim for... Why would anyone quit when that would trigger an instant DQ?
