So yesterday, I began playing my first round at Hoodoo Hills in the CC tour, and I noticed on multiple occasions that as I took my backswing all the way to the top, when I went to start my downswing, nothing would happen.
The animation just slowly let the club go back down as if I had released the joystick at the top of the swing. This happened probably 10-15 times over my round and its something I havn't come across before. My controller seemed to be working in every other way so I'm hoping it's not the problem. Is it possible a choppy internet connection could have caused some sort of problem (even though normally its very reliable)? I heard people talk about certain courses can cause problems on the console version of the game due to too much content... is that what is happening?
Basically, I'm just curious if anyone else has had a similar issue, and if they know what the problem is. Thanks for any help and or advice.

I had this issue right after I downloaded the update, never before. And later in the day, this problem went away. It was just during two rounds right after I updated, and at the time I had no trouble getting 100% swings. Later in the day I no longer had this backswing swing "hang-up", but I developed the same issue that many are having of not getting 100% unless I push ridiculously hard forward when my golfer takes his down swing.

Hmm....my first game was immediately after I installed the update, so maybe that is the problem. And now that you mention it, I started getting lots of 92% swings on the back nine now that I think about it.

Well...good news: I no longer had the downswing problem that I did yesterday... Bad news: now I just have the same 92% problem as everyone else...lol.
Not sure if it's a problem or just me getting used to the changes, but there does seem to be some inconsistancies.
Atleast now I have something to blame my horrible round on.
Thanks everyone.

I went to the HB Studios forums to read what was going on and they have changed the mechanics a ton. Basically what has happened is it is going to make it near impossible to use loft because you will never hit 100% Unless you figure your loft on hitting the ball with 90% power every time.

The animation just slowly let the club go back down as if I had released the joystick at the top of the swing. You probably paused too long at the end of your backswing? Because if you do so, the club "falls down" after a certain time (not sure how many seconds; 3-4s I'd guess).

This is the ideal TGC swing - if your swing doesn't look like this I suggest you adjust it to do this. This is swing they programmed the game around and PS4 users are now joining the rest of us in having to do it this way or the highway.

that video is such a kick in the nuts when thats already what you do but it doesn't work every time. I swing just like that naturally and it still doesn't give 100% with any regularity, whether I do it just like that, delay, dont delay, wait for the top of the swing, go early, delay loads, swing a bit harder, a bit softer, whatever I do. The only consistent 100% shot on my ps4 pad is by slamming the stick forward at twice the pace that guy does. And you can hold the top of the swing for ages if you want and still get 100% by slamming it forward. So it can't ALL be about tempo. Maybe its just because my controller is old. Maybe me and loads of others are incapable of following that really complicated swing video, and that's why we suck at the game now. Maybe we just can't replicate what that guy is doing on the screen. But I doubt it.

Just been trying my other controller, which i typically just used when friends play, but I think i mixed them up a while ago. The analogue stick definitely has more 'spring' to it. Just googled it, and on a HB forum theres an old discussion about PS4 controllers. Apparently you can 'lift up' your analogue stick, and it may or may not make it more springy. I tried it on my regular pad, and the analogue stick did raise up a very small amount. But dont think its any better. My spare pad seems marginally better but its too early to say, I am naturally forcing the stick more than I used to anyway but I am getting less 90% shots, but not 100% with regularity. There is also a controller reset button i just found out. Think on the off chance if the springs were getting warn on older controllers it wouldn't be fixed by resetting it though. Bed time over here, will possibly look into it further tomorrow. Maybe this is a red herring, I don't know. Maybe others could look into it. Would be interesting to see if a brand new pad made a difference. Here's the link to the original discussion, it may just be nonsense, I have no idea. www.hb-studios.com/forum/index.php?topic=9849.0

Just for the records and eventually (most likely not) helping to find the issue:
I'm playing a pretty old/worn out PS4 stock controller, and I'm not having any issues making 100% shots. So it might not be about old/new controllers.

Only option is to smash the stick forward and that's something I hate doing, should be able to swing how you want but keep it at the right tempo.
