Usually play all my games on the first weekend but due to the dreaded "left stick" syndrome waited it out for a fix. 13/15 mph winds on all four rounds and seemingly all against me on the par 5s. Shot a -9 on the first round including a HIO then went -8, -7 and -5. So so. Watched the TGCT Live Weekly update and was surprised by the PS4 dominance of all tours. May be a little different this week...

After breaking my leg, I've been very pleased to be back home and able to get back into this again. Had a quick 3 hole practise to see the state of the game, as I hadn't touched it since the new patch(es) came out, so got a few 95% shots at first until I figured things out.
Anyway, 2 rounds played, and I hit -8 and a -9, which I'll take!
Also amused after I missed the cut at The Open, I still went up 2 places in the WGR!

Why so low participation? is the tour shrinking?
Course too easy maybe? :-)

Why so low participation? is the tour shrinking? Course too easy maybe? :-) I was wondering the same thing. Maybe just summer - vacations, people playing real golf, etc. Or maybe it's the wind waiters waiting for better winds? Or the wind-fix waiters waiting for whatever wind? Or maybe they are waiting for the waiter to bring the check? Or maybe a pair of waders to go fly fishing? Could be anything...I guess I'll just be waiting to see what others think...

Wow!.. those were some tough conditions out there...
Played in 16-18mph winds for the first 2 rounds..
Still managed -23 after 2 rounds.. which I'm extremely happy with given the conditions

Kills me seeing my name at the top of the leaderboard after 3 rounds knowing i choked away a chance at my first victory with a final round -7. Maybe next week

Why so low participation? is the tour shrinking? Course too easy maybe? :-) Its been shrinking for awhile now. If you look over last 6 events there is a gradual dropoff. Summer having some to do with it, vacay, work, etc. Think most of it is ppl getting a lil burned out on TGC taking some time off. We used to have from 120 to 140ppl register now it stays around 85 - 95ppl. Most will be back.

Yeah - but from a tour perspective there are probably plenty of guys from the web.com etc that want to play - and I think they should be given the chance. The top tiers should virtually always fill up.

I think the auto-DQ thing kicking in over the past little bit removed some players. One could say that might mean the tour is shrinking... but if it was a bit over-inflated to start with, it might just be 'right-sizing'. Also the EA golf game came out... makes sense that people would want to check it out. And it's summer... big vacation time around here right now. And there was that whole left stick problem, maybe stopped some people from registering until it got sorted.
If I was a web.com guy (again), I would be looking at now as a good time to use any sponsors exemptions and try to get a field promotion.

I totally agree Pub. It's a real good time for Web guys to jump up and give the top tours a try. I think the top 20 should be moved up to fill spots on the Euro and PGA tours. They can compete for sure and it would help fill in some gaps. They could prob. take the top 30 from the Web move em up. Especially if the trend doesn't change after Summer, and the buzz of EA golf wears off. Gunna be interesting to see how many we have that play consistently come Fall. A lot of guys will get burnt out on EA quick and be back playing real golf.

I agree - filling the field with web.com players would be a good idea - with battlefield promotion to the best webber even if they are not on a normal exemption.
