I haven't looked at the course itself, but just looking at the pictures from the database, there appears to me a lot of surfacing issues, as well as some sculpting stuff. Can't tell you anything about the quality of the course ideas, but there's some solid tutorials around that should help smooth out some of the technical stuff. Now, notes from the reviewer: Somerset Hills (tour) - not approved Has a lot of scultping issues... 10th fairway drops a good 60 feet and then back to the landing area with a bunker set in the hill about halfway up... also needs work on bunkers and refining the green slopes. That's fair, thanks for the input. Just curious, though - if a course is modeled after a real course, do you look at pictures of the real course to see how close the course in the game is to the real thing? The real course I based mine on is very hilly - in fact I probably flattened it out too much. If you look at the last picture on their site, of the real 17th hole, it drops a lot, probably more than 60 feet. www.golfdigest.com/story/somerset-hills-country-clubwww.golfdigest.com/story/somerset-hills-country-clubGenerally not, but if someone submits an RCR of a famous, well known course, and it looks absolutely nothing like it's namesake, we'd probably reject that. But in this case, real life course or not, the basic polish we'd need from a tour course wasn't there.

Okay guys, can you please let me know what was wrong with Greylock Glen G C, please give me all the information you can so I can use it in my next designs. Thank you. Got the notes from the reviewer: Define signs of autogen Lots of straight back and forth par 4s Sculpting needs work autogen ?, maybe 2 or 3 bunkers, only 2 straight holes on the course, besides par 3's, and sculpting, my least favorite broad term, no clue what to fix, tees were all level, I triple checked. Fairways were all about the same width because I was told my first course looked TO random, back to the drawing board. Thanks for the info.

Hey guys I'm back. I just submitted White Hawk Golf Course. I know you'll get to it in good time but I'm anxious for your feedback. I've tried to take all of your help and apply it to this one. Hope you like it.

There's some good ideas on the few holes I played, but the level of polish we'd expect out of a tour course isn't quite there yet. Andre has some great ones on how to get started as well if you're interested. www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMfOamKMuHDtDwDy5DUSwgog7Kvqhoeq8

Hey guys, just received notification that my latest submission, Melville Bay GC, was declined by TGC Tours. Curious as to why?

Hey guys, just received notification that my latest submission, Melville Bay GC, was declined by TGC Tours. Curious as to why? Notes from the reviewer: Wasn't a awful course by any means, and there are some really good ideas on display here. The bunkers need significant work though. In almost all cases the bunkers were well below average in placement and sculpting. Planting needs some work as well. A lot of tidying up and polishing required around tee boxes and fairways, the worst offender being the 5th tee. Hope he works at it though, like I said, a lot of good, just along with some sloppy work in other areas of the course.

That's pretty disappointing to hear, especially since the issues seem to be entirely aesthetic and have minimal to do with the play-ability of the course. Too bad, it's a fun play with good variety.

Just want to know why my new course Weeping willow G.C. wasn’t accept ? Notes from the reviewer: "Not too far off this one. - Bunkers need an overhaul. Some were ok. Others were either very badly placed, sculpted or there were simply too many close to each other when one larger bunker would've sufficed. - Greens couple of illegal pins. transitions weren't too bad though. Some greens were overly large without justification for the size. - Fairways ok. altho some were very boxy. (unrounded/smoothed spliney edges/corners) - Lots of unnecessary blind shots, both from the tees and fairways. - Sculpting. Just needs to be dialed down in places. - Cart paths need smoothing. - Seems to have given up on hole 18."

While aesthetics are not the most important part of a course, it's still a part of the experience. And when we get several submissions a day for a small handful of spots, courses that have a basic level of polish are going to get picked over those that missing that polish. It's not a beauty contest, but we do have a baseline expectation of technical proficiency for tour courses.

I would love to have your feedback when you get the time. I know you guys are busy and if you don't have time for a full play on White Hawk I totally understand, but if any of you has the chance to give some constructive criticism it would be appreciated. My goal is to make one that you all think is "tour worthy". Thanks.

I’m not the most experienced designer here but I’ve had 3 “tour worthy” publishes so far with 1 on tour and enjoy doing in depth reviews for fellow designers looking to improve. It might be a day or two but I’ll send you a message on it
