Thank you guys so much. All great tips. I've watched a number of videos but that was the first with regard to the fwy/grn transition. I guess I never even thought about that. Also the bunker stuff makes a lot of sense too - appreciate you all taking time to explain.

Thanks, I guess I still have much to learn about this. I'll keep trying. A couple of questions: All of the greens were made with splines but I did use stock shapes for about half of the bunkers - is that bad? Also, I added depth and sculpting to all of the bunkers but do you think they need to be deeper? I felt that most of them were pretty deep. Finally, what exactly do you mean by transition from fairway to green - just not sure what you're looking for there. Any help you all could give would be appreciated. Thanks for not going all "Tott" on us. A suggestion I would offer, is watch some tutorials on YouTube (Canucks are the easiest to find and probably the most beginner friendly). Also get Twitch and follow all the good designers. Most are very good about helping out us newer designers. Sometimes just seeing the tools work helps.

Requested by the reviewer to pass notes to the deisgner: "Rocky Waters GC - Not approved
This course just needs 1 main fix to be improved: shorten the landing areas on holes 1, 9, 10 so the fairway can be reached from the tee box. All are just too far to be reached into big headwind, or with pro clubs. Bunkering could be improved, and planting could look better, but the rest of the course is very playable and has some good greens and good ideas. Recommend getting the designer the feedback so he can republish if interested w/ the tee distances to fairway fixed."

The Lodges Golf Resort: Not Approved
There is planting on greens and fairways Uneven rough throughout Very severe and unrealistic sculpting on and around playing surfaces Many unnecessarily blind tee shots throughout

Lucerne Valley//Lilly Island GC: Designer has not yet asked for feedback but is clearly confused about why his course isn't submitted because he submitted it again with a different name.
Notes from original rejection of Lucerne Valley:
- Awkward hole design - Many greens and all bunkers single shapes that don't flow with the fairways and green - most are 5-10 yards from the edge of the fairway or green - Brutally simplistic sculpting: everything either dead flat or steep and sharp - Only one par 3, all 4 par 5s are on the front nine - 8400 yards...
"Lilly Island" is the exact same course submitted again under a different name. I have many issues with this, and if the designer is reading this I hope they take the advice. I also advise any designer reading this who has had a course rejected to take note.
1) It is explicitly laid out in the submission guidelines to only submit one version of your course. 2) Calling these "versions" of each other is even incorrect because they are identical. 3) Designer clearly attempted to pull a fast one on us and hopefully get course accepted. If one of us rejects a course, typically most of us would for the same reasons. 4) If you wanted to get the course accepted under the new name (assuming it got by a reviewer), at least improve it. Courses are rejected because they are not up to our standards, and if the course didn't pass the first time as "Lucerne", changing the name and resubmitting won't work. Take note of why we say it isn't up to standard, and put that knowledge into your next course.

Berry Bay - not approved This one is close, but I don't think it has enough boat stands. Just make sure to include more of those for Berry Bay 2.

Okay all, my course, Teds Folly was not approved, which did not surprise me, (my very first course), would like feedback on what was right and what was wrong, so I can use the knowledge on my next design, Thank you, hiiamted.

Hey bud, For starters, sculpting was a little jagged. Some steep drops and some very flat areas. Second, surfacing was a little off. You had some gigantic fairways and greens - and some very tiny ones - which makes everything seem kinda random. That 8th hole is the peak of the aforementioned issues. It looks like you created a hole then sunk bits and pieces underwater. Keep at it though. Watch some of Andre's ( Crazycanuck1985) tutorials and get used to the tools and just keep putting courses out. Take what you learn from each and reinvest it into the next.

thanks for info, had no clue what was looked for, believe it or not, made no elevation changes to hole 8, I just laid fairway over what was already there. Yes canucks videos were the only reason I designed this course, I would have had no idea how to go about it. I understand better now that you want a more uniform look to the course, appreciate the feedback.

Ted shows how a new designer who has his first course rejected should approach the situation by asking for feedback and acknowledging he has fair and constructive feedback given to him.
Designer of Lucerne take note.

I did my best though.

GatTecu2020: Not Approved
Many tee boxes are not flat Some illegal pins Jagged fairway edges (this might have been intentional but it doesn’t help with the other issues) Fairway to green transitions need work Many shots are unnecessarily blind Giant tree in the middle of the fairway surface 477 yard par 5 hole 13 Planting is done well though Bunkers are okay
