Sorry but have to ask, I see a lot of talk on rejected courses about sight lines, can't see fairway from tee, can't see bunker from fairway or can't see green from fairway. I've played golf for 35 years + and guess what sometimes you cant see the fairway from the tee or the green from the fairway, that's why there is usually a course layout on your scorecard. check out Strathpeffer golf course is Scotland, google it and tell me how many site lines you see. the earth is round by the way so not every course is flat.

It's not so much the actual blindness, it's the "unintentional" nature of it. Basically saying, if you can't see the bunkers from the tee on a downhill tee shot because huge bumps and humps are present that should have been naturally smoothed out, that's a problem. Blindness can happen in golf, for sure. Unintentional blindness is a product of a lack of understanding the fundamentals of the designer.

Crippling Cliffs DbD.......Not Approved.
Automatic rejection- 2 pinsets only, 4 required.
TBH, it would be really nice if some folks read the rules before submitting a course.

I’ll accept that, you make a fair comment.
Regarding the weed killer reference and the comment play the course and you will see, I made the course so of course I’ve played it, I never added any grass or plant so I’m not sure what you mean, I’ll play it again tonight and see if I can see what you mean, putting up a giant picture of a weed killer bottle is a bit harder, hardly encouraging designers to continue.

Didn't know you were the creator of the course. The weed killer is referencing that you used the extreme brown-colored surface as light rough and as your walking paths, and used pretty vibrant green-colored textures everywhere else. It basically looks like you took Roundup to the light rough and killed all the grass. These textures, when used together, are extremely harsh, and clashed pretty aggressively. Hopefully this offers some clarity.

Ah now I see what you mean, ok so was that the main reason the course was rejected. I did not review the course, nor am I a course reviewer...but I did watch someone play it on a stream as they reviewed it. It was close to approval, to be honest. But the harsh textures chosen nudged it into Not Approved. I would say that even if it were approved, it would have been a very "soft" approval, as there were issues throughout the course that would keep this one well away from Tour Worthy status. - Lots of single, stock-shaped bunkers - Auto-gen planting - Harsh sculpting that led to unintentional blindness in spots - Tee boxes all lined up in a row, just a few feet from each other - Massive, odd-looking bridges that were miles wide - Multiple drivable, short par-4s Just some things to think about on any of your future designs. Check out this video for more details about other things to keep in mind:

Thanks for the feedback Ranger, i used the browner fringe colour just to make it stand out a bit, thb not something I have done in the past and will definitely not do it again. i get the round up massive picture now but to see your course was rejected with only a picture of a weed killer bottle and no explanation was off putting, if someone is going to give feedback then give feedback, constructive, critical whatever but at least give something, I've had 5 courses TGC approved which i am delighted with and thought i would try something a bit different from my normal style.
I didn't think the course would be accepted anyway as I had made a massive mistake which nobody seemed to notice as they were concentrating on the amount of weed killer i had used on the course but if you play of the black tee's and get to the 5th tee you are playing off a RED tee, clearly never saved the tees after placing them. guess people are looking at other ways to find mistakes rather than check the basics.
thanks for your time Ranger and i hope the next course i post has more luck, cheers.

Plenty of other mistakes were noticed by the course reviewer. I was watching their review stream and posted the not approved on their behalf to speed up their reviewing process. The primary reasons for decline should be fairly self-evident if you've had 5 courses approved.
