Got it originally on the PS4. Will be getting it on the Xbox One X as well.

Is NEXT a free update, paid DLC or a new game?

It does make me laugh to see this game about to go on sale for $80 on Xbox while most stores have long ago cleared out their PS4 stock for $20-30 and you can easily find it used for around $15.(all prices CAD$)
That being said, most first time Xbox players should be able to easily extract enough play time out of this to warrant a new release price tag.

UK Xbox players can buy it for £39 digital or get it from the Turkey store for £19

That's good. As a non-Xbox owner I just saw it available for pre-order for full price at one store around here and didn't feel the need to investigate any further. As a budget release I would just hope Xbox owners don't hold any preconceived biases against it based on what the game was two years ago, or fanboyish biases since it stayed off of Xbox for so long.

I have no preconceived ideas on it as it’s a new game for me but I did read about how it was received on release on PS4 and PC but this is the fourth update its had. It looks good from videos I’ve seen and I have seen a video from someone who has got the game early. I’m just pleased you guys have beta tested it for the last two years 😜 I’m looking forward to exploring

Upon further investigation it looks like physical in-store copies for Xbox will be $65 or $70. PSN is still selling it for $80.
This is definitely a game where at this point if you can ignore all the pre and post launch chatter you're going to be much better off as a new player. That was mostly just vocal fanboys on both sides with unrealistic expectations for what the game was going to be.
I've gone back to it several times over the last two years and have always enjoyed it for a nice relaxing time. All this talk has me wanting to jump back in but I might as well wait for the update, even though I don't really care about the multiplayer stuff. Now it's just a question if I want to start over or not. That's the problem with these massive game changing updates.

You know I own the game already lol. I think Canuck, Seamount and myself all streamed the launch when the pre-download became available. I'm looking forward to playing with this update - from everything I've read, we'll need to start from scratch and that's fine. I want to go hunt down the dozens of previous planets I discovered. Some were really rich in resources so it may be worth my while to revisit and see how much those have changed, if at all. I'll need to start my grind to $1 billion but it will be fun.

From a tweet from mr. Murray himself... No Man's Sky Next multiplayer is about playing co-op with a small group of friends. At launch this is a team of four. It's not a seperate mode. You get to carry your save across and can dip in and out of playing with friends.
