Yesterday was my regular golf day so I was excited to arrive in Shelby, NC to get started. It was around 7:30 as we had an 8:00 tee time. The temperature in Shelby was going to hit the high 90's so we wanted to play early. The week before I had put an extra golf ball in my golf shoe and forgot about it. When I got my shoes out, the ball fell onto the pavement and started to roll away. Me, thinking I was still a young man decided to pounce on the rolling ball. I tried to outrun it and stop it with my foot. Well the ball was rolling faster than I was moving and I stepped on the ball and fell face first onto the pavement. Ouch!
My first thought was is anything broken? I decided that nothing was broken, but I was bleeding from both knees and both palms were already bruising! My next thought was, can I swing a club? Yes I can!
Long story short, I played and shot 80 and won $10.
I don't know how many of you consider yourself avid golfers, but I do and you will understand my thinking.
Moral of the story, let the ball come to rest and then pick it up!
Do any of you have any similar stories?

I can't say I've ever shot 80, but I did win $20 the other week on a golf bet.
Sounds like you've got a new superstitious routine to do before all your rounds now.

Going back some years now - 21 actually - I was representing my County at Field Hockey and decided to get on a motorbike before training (or a match). I fell off & scarred both my knees so badly they still have the scars till this day & yes I did go to hockey rather than hospital

I'm free to come down and punch you in the face before each round if facial trauma will help lower your score.

I haven't in about 3 years...Love Golf just never have time... Riverbend still in good shape? I haven't played there since the Y took over..
I really miss Pine Grove.... Wasn't the greatest course, but really enjoyed playing there.... Woodbridge is another that really went down hill the last time I played it but that's been probably 10 years....

Riverbed put in the new hybrid greens. They took out dozens of trees. It is a first tee course now. Still in relatively good shape.
Deer Brook is the best course around now. Great shape but devilish greens.

No kidding the short par four on the New Prospect Ch Rd side with the deep swale at Deer brook eats my lunch every single time..
