Hi, I'm Jon and have been casually playing golf games for a while now, although I'm not too bad at Neo Turf Masters. Tried The Golf Club on PS Now just before PGA2K21 came out, which convinced me to try the latter. Unfortunately I didn't feel like I got on with the swing mechanic in that so didn't play as much as I thought I would. Seeing 2K23 had a three click system got me to jump back in, although I will give the swing stick another try at some point!
Saw thetaffman talking about TGCTours on a Discord and thought I'd pop along.

Hello, newbie here. Played a long while back but have decided to get involved with 2K23 on PS5. I have a question: does different types of golf ball, pimped up clubs, etc. have any performance bearing when it comes to TGC tournaments?

Just thought I would stop by and introduce myself. My name is Matt, been a lurker on the forum for a few months. Finally decided to create an account. Been learning quite a bit about TGC series and the designer on here. I have been a fan of golf games since "Golf" on NES. I really enjoyed the EA Tiger series circa 02-06. Played the original Golf Club a few years back and got back into it several months ago after I had purchased 2K21. I also play IRL, but I am far from a pro. I look forward to chatting with the community and getting to know everyone better. I also design courses. I will start a thread under Completed Courses in the near future.

Hi - i'm Ben. Have been playing since the OG game, but this is the first time i've signed up for this.
Not sure if i'll get good enough to play on the tour - I tried playing with Master Swing Tempo for about 4-5 months on the old version and never got consistent. Willing to give it a try though.
Quick question - Does everyone max out their player stats before starting the tour? I've got to lvl 10 and i'm thinking it's going to take a while for me to pick up enough legendary fittings. I also really don't want to use the skill points (apart from the passive).

There are definitely players here who don't use skill points or fittings (tiny minority most likely), so you can definitely try to qualify. Register at TGCtours.com and play the CC events. Welcome and good luck!

Hey all I’m Ryan. Been playing golf games here and there going back to the original PlayStation days. Got into it most since getting a PS4 tho between EA Rory and PGA Tour 2k21. Got pretty decent at 2k21 playing in a few different Pro/Master/True Sim Societies. My buddy Alan (CC-H) turned me over to TGCTours for 2k23. Struggled with the changes in the new game early, but have found a pretty good footing in CC-J after a few tournys in. Gotta find more consistency to get up the higher ranks, but it’s cool always having comparable players to compete against each week.
Hit ‘em well out there!

Hey guys,
My name is Dave from Ireland. I enjoy the new game but my level wouldn’t be the greatest. I’m hoping for o join some league just for the competitive nature it brings.
Hope to see ye out on the fairways

Hi All:
I guess this is the right place to post the following.
I'm actually an old timer who played here with the original Golf Club. I made it up to the pros but then Golf Club 2 came out and I was just unable to master it so I quit in 2019. I never looked back.
Well, 4 years later, I decided to give this a go again. I don't really care how well I do. Covid has put a lot of things into perspective for me. Just being a member of this community is all I care about. But I do have a few questions just so I know I'm doing the right things in regard to participating in the tour. So here are my questions.
1. What game are we even playing? I assume it's PGA 2k23 but I want to make sure I buy the right game. That's right. I don't even have the latest game yet. So please let me know what I need to purchase and if I need to get any DLC with it.
2. I assume I have to play an initial round to determine what Circuit I get put into. I have no doubt I will start at the very bottom. In fact, I may be the absolute worst player here. From what I've read, the new game is even harder than TGC 2.
3. I also assume that it's the same as previous. If you don't make the cut after 2 rounds, you're finished. I'm pretty sure I'll be playing 2 rounds for most, if not all of my time here. Again, that's cool. Just want to interact with the people here. I missed this place.
3. I read somewhere that you can add bonuses or something to the base game as you play more. I read you have to pay for these. is this money you pay or is it through some kind of in game credit system?
4. From what I've read, the game seems to be on hold new. Something about the site being down? Will there be some kind of announcement when this is resolved? If so, where can I read it? Is there a main announcement message center?
5. Anything I haven't covered that I absolutely need to know. From what I've read, the game must be set up a certain way in order to not be disqualified. Is this posted somewhere? How complex is setup? Is this game even harder than TGC 2? I can't imagine that but the game is probably a lot more realistic too. If it is, I can deal with that.
Finally, a shout out to Scott Doyley. I see you're still using the avatar from my dummy Jerry. I'm honored that you kept it up even after I left. Thanks.
Anyway, looking forward to chatting with all my old friends, whoever is still here and remembers me. My original name was Wagtunes but that account seems to be gone.
Thanks for giving me another chance after all these years.

Welcome back waggy ! Here are the answers to your questions: 1) PGA Tour 2K23 is the game currently used...no special DLC or anything is needed. 2) There is a qualification procedure, listed here: www.tgctours.com/Home/RulesPolicies#qualifying3) There are things in the game you earn, like fittings and skills, that you acquire by playing the game. The fittings and skills impact your player's attributes. You cannot pay for them, but you do use in-game coins (called "VC" - virtual currency) to apply the fittings to your clubs. In-game VC can be earned, but it can also be purchased with real money. There are good YouTube videos out there that explain the entire fitting/skills process. You will also likely come across mention of "consumable golf balls". These do not apply to TGCT, as they are locked out of tour play at the Society level. They are useable in all other areas of the game, so you can look up info on them if you wish. 4) The forums tend to be the main messaging center, but there have been incidents recently that have made the forums and main site unstable or unusable. Another way to keep tabs on things is the TGCT Discord channel: discord.gg/kaUhtEbW5) In terms of things you need to know...I'd check this here, where all policies and proceedures are lined out, including steps to take to get the proper HUD when playing tour rounds, etc. - www.tgctours.com/Home/RulesPolicies The game is quite a bit different from any of the TGC games, and is even quite a bit different than the previous PGA 2K entry. Personally, I feel the gameplay is very good in 2K23. There are, of course, varying opinions on this! Hope this helps

In spite of my raging over aspects of this game, this was one of the ost enjoyable experiences of my life (especially when I made pro) and I miss it. Shame I just missed the sale but I can't see paying $60 for a game I could have got yesterday for $30. So I'll probably wait for the next sale. Good to see you and good to see that Scott still has that avatar. I just told my wife, looks like I'm a true celebrity. LOL
