Yes it's true. They announced and demoed yesterday. Craig you need to watch the last 15 min of the twitch yesterday where Keith demoed all the goodies.

Wind fix will be turned on once the update is available on all systems.
Firmness is separated! Although still only the three settings to choose from (soft, med, firm).

I don't understand why you'd want firm fairways and soft greens or vice versa?! Am I missing something here? Surely consistency is key to a good golf course?

It's a really good addition - but the big one would be more firmness settings.

I think it will help because fairways generally don't offer as much roll as they should. To get them anywhere near natural on a links course you would have to use firm for everything including greens. Personally I think that made it too difficult to stay on the green on a number of holes(Not just links but that's the best example). You will now be able to select firm fairways and medium greens but keep green speed fast. I think it'll work much better. You still have consistency because as I said, the fairways were not firm enough in comparison.

Which update? I'm not sure. It was in the community managers build on Wednesday. Someone mentioned a patch on PC so that might include this addition. But us PS4 guys will probably have to wait a couple of years.

I just hope we don't get a batch of golf courses ruined by having firm one thing, soft the other.

I love the new settings. Lots of these tougher course where long, firm and fast and small greens with tucked pins. This way you can keep the firmness on the course, put the greens to med, and speed to fast and those longer shots will not hit the front of the green and roll 40 yards off the back.
Much needed improvement.

Greens will always be softer as they are cut so low (maybe 2-3mm) they need to be irrigated to keep them alive.
