The greens on the Olympic Qualifying course are a farce and an insulting trap for players like the bunkers at the British Open in round one this week. A gimmick punitive design feature that most players have never seen before in their career should never be let into competition. I have played this game since the original TGC and have never seen these elevated water edge trap greens before and hope to never see them again. It is an unfair way to protect par that is not used in real life in the top 20 hardest USA courses other than possibly some holes at Oakland Hills. I played the default course and the pin positions in the tournament were moved way out to the green edge to purposely make it so there is no room to stop the ball.

I swore black and blue I'd not get drawn into one of your rubbish posts but... maaaaate... those bunkers have been around longer than you and I. It's the purest form of golf to be played on those fair links. It is the essence of the game we love and not the game of darts oft seen on the soils of the Leaders of the Free World. Sheesh !!

I've learnt a few things over the years playing on TGC Tours which helped give me a perspective over "unfair" courses. First thing is to check the leaderboard and see how everyone else is scoring, if they're scoring well and I'm not then it's a me problem not the course. Another thing is to keep in mind that we are all playing the same course with the same conditions,so if I don't do as well as expected then it's my playing is off and just chalk it up as a bad week.

I rangered this course and shot a +7. There are a few greens that can be punitive for sure, but if you don't hero-ball the course you can score on it. I checked my notes and ended up shooting a -1 first round. The course is tough, but no way near as tough as one might think.

I have no chance at making an Olympic team, but I decided to play the course just because of all the grief I'm seeing on it.
I'm a CC-J golfer, and I thought it was a good fun course and enjoyed it.
Challenging, but it wasn't near what the comments here and in game act like it is. And if we are all competing on the same course, who cares, it all comes down to the golfer's skill.
Keep Pounding!

I've played 2 seasons of TGC, and to me this felt like one of the tougher courses I've played on. Only played 2 rounds and got E and -3. I watched ApexHound's YouTube vid and he was killing it after 3 rounds and then shot 80 on the last.
I'm not sure if it was designed this way, but I thought 1 hole was very hard and then the next went to easy. Kinda like you could eagle one hole and then double bogey the next. Definitely some learnings for me here.
Nevertheless I went back to my friendly Elite comp and shot a -16 in the last round... go figure lol

I personally would enjoy an independent weekly review by meunier33 of the platinum tour course and setup each week. It might just revive the discussion on the platinum forum and add some fun to our grindfests
