Hirono Golf Club - Japan - 2K23 beta version published

Hi All,

I have been working on Hirono for a couple of years and finally got around to publishing it on 2019 for simulator play. I know that a lot of people have been waiting for this course to be published in 2K23 so I ported from 2019 to 2K21 and now into 2K23.  I would really like to get some advice and recommendations on the course before publishing the final version so have published a beta version here and would like to ask you all to give it a play and give me some advice. This course is published as "SLI_HrnOBeta2". 

I have soften the greens and slowed them down a bit but am curious as to how playable they are in 2K23.  Any recommendations?  I may still need to move the pins around a bit as well. 

I have not done much with planting with new objects in 2K23 so would like to spend a little time reviewing photos and other resources again to see if I can switch some objects around a bit. How do you like the color and textures?  Because we have 4 seasons here in Japan, I am really tempted to publish 4 versions of it covering the different seasons.    I am not really very creative with planting so any advice would be appreciated. 

Again, I hope I can get a lot of play tests and some very candid feedback before publishing the final version of this.  Any advice is always appreciated.

Hoping rjwils30 and b101 can offer some suggestions here. Would be great to a have a version of Hirono in game.

Based on the photos the fairway to rough colour contrast looks a little jarring to my eye. Would also like to see some of those beautiful Japanese autumnal colours but in a subtle kind of way.

Well done with this recreation! I've seen pics of Hirono over the years and always loved it, so it's exciting to get the chance to have it in game.

I agree with blueblood about the textures- I really like the rough color personally, but I might suggest making the fairways and greens a bit more brown or even just light green to blend better. I also think the course would look spectacular with the red and yellow leaves of autumn planting.

I thought the greens were pretty good the way they are. They were definitely tough, but with the greens at the speed they're at, they felt fair. I played Pin 1 and really the only borderline too difficult pins were 6 and 8 in my opinion, but they weren't unplayable.

Great job with this one- I'm looking forward to seeing the finished version!

Thanks for the feedback so far blueblood1995 and evvic3. Very helpful. Let me play around a bit with the colors a bit and see what may look good. If you have any specific recommendations for color numbers, please let me know. Since I generally build for sim play, most people are playing on projectors so they want really vivid colors that will pop on the screen.

I definitely have more re-planting to do since 2019 has limited options for objects and they are tied to the course theme. I will definitely add some more of the autumn colors for this one.

I will also take a look at the pins again to see if then can benefit from a little touching up. Did you feel that this speed is good as a default?

Colors look great! Love seeing the fall colors too. I'm no expert at planting, so I don't have any suggestions myself, but it looks really nice. And to answer your question about the greens, I thought the speed worked fine!
