Seems like they have put 2K23 on the back burner. Is this indicative of not wanting to throw money at a game that gets replaced in October, or a case of them not pushing any more updates because the game has lost momentum in sales?

To be fair, it was easy to tell that updates for 2K23 were over in January when the Clubhouse Pass they put up for sale then has a countdown timer that runs out in 2030. Plus, the game was almost a year and a half old at that point...seems about the time they'd usually end things for current title and move on to the next. If their release cycle continues the way it has for the last couple games, one could assume a new game is coming out later this year. But there has been no official announcement. And there probably wouldn't be one until late summer, as per their past communications about upcoming games.

Two odd things about this-
1- that thought never occurred to me. I saw that 2030 date, and just thought it was one of their dumb mistakes or something left in.
That got me sort of peeved, when I realize that games that put out a new version every other year or three, should not do passes, because when you put the new game out, that immediately makes your pass worthless. Generally, games that do passes, stay out there and just update (like PUBG, Fortnite, Disney Dreamlight, etc.) So whatever you spent for the pass, you get to keep, for as long as the game is in service.
2- I was thinking about it, so I looked last night, and that 2030 date is not there anymore.
hmmm.

It's still there...the countdown for the Clubhouse Pass in-game says that Season 7 ends in 2090 days, 7 hours, and 30 minutes. That's January 1, 2030.

Meh, it is what it is. Not super expensive and it meant you had a few more clothes and clubs to choose from. I bought the first couple but haven't since. Got plenty of vc now to buy the odd clothes bundle that takes my eye. Point is I don't think it's being mis-sold, your money your choice! I could have spent nothing extra and my golfer would be no worse, just more boring to look at. That's the line for me, as long as it doesn't get to 'pay to level up your golfer' I'm happy.

I agree on this one. I do worry that’s the next step but I’ve been doom and glooming about that for two games at least so hopefully I’m wrong again lol

Personally I have zero time for single player golf games anymore and this is the only game I play online with others, there is no competition as single player for me is boring as @!$#., I really can't be bothered to level up on Xbox to have a decent set up to play societies so i just don't but I would pay so I didn't have to so i could play on Xbox now and again.. There is a cap here so I would rather pay to not have a grind more than for cosmetic fluff or early access. Also just let us lock off the skills crap in societies please. I would pay just for that, oh and that vibration aid also which belongs in beginner level only. I would pay big money just for that...

Vibration never used it can't see the point. The graphics are good enough to see where to stop the swing.

I had it on for the first couple of days to get a feel for the partials but I found it massively distracting when putting.

And that's the big problem with marker on, people fine tune thier WHOLE short game and take all the skill out of every shot or putt. To me TGCTOURS is pointless as there is zero skill needed in the short game or scrambling game. The biggest skill needed for putting especially with grids is feel for distance but guess what HB have @!$#ed that up because of baby aids that you can't lock off. Not sure why you guys bother.I honestly just look at TGCTours scores and laugh at how feckin easy it is. How impressive are those 60+ unders scores. It is a monotonously birdie fest that does not feel like golf at all. No offense Giraffe as you are one of the good guys that have been around for a long time, just giving an outsiders view of TGCTours. I will never play TST with the current set up as it is seriously not SIM at all.

I suck but I don't move the marker. Don't know how you guys play without green grids. Impressive.

I see it when you go into the pass. I was talking about on the main splash screen that comes up in the "ads" that you constantly have to dismiss. I swear it was on that one, because I kept seeing it, and I never go to the actual clubhouse part that shows you all the stuff level by level. But... I get sleepy when I wait too late to game, so could be I just saw it once at the beginning, and then just assumed it was on the splash screen after that. LOL.

2K's annual meeting / report is due the beginning of May, so we should see in there if we are getting a release this financial year .. which we all presume we will and will be somewhere between August and October like the last couple of releases have been.
The biggest question for me is do they go XSX/S / PS5 / PC generation only, which I think they will and need to for this to continue on the 2 year cycle they are using for the games.
In terms of gameplay, not much needs changing in my eyes, i would like more game modes, i.e. Greensomes, nearest the pin.
As well as the obvious ... cross-platform societies

I'm not so confident on this part...WWE 2K25 and TopSpin 2K25 are releasing/have released on last-gen and current-gen consoles.

With respect (cos you're one of the good guys too) I don't totally agree and I think you'll find you're in a bit of a minority. The scoring is relative. The really good players will score insane scores on easy set ups but the tougher set ups and courses will still get their full attention. I do see the attraction in the way you like to play and if I had more time I would definitely play it, but I don't and I still very much enjoy the way TGCTours have it set up. One day I'll join you. And I'm not sure about this fine tuning for the short game, sounds like wizardry to me! This game has always been head and shoulders above EA for touch and feel on and around the greens, ever since TGC1. The game mechanics in this version are the best I've ever played in my opinion, and you can play it however you like. You can have it on a rope with no timing and putt previews etc, or you can play extreme sim, it all works. I also think every game has improved in some way over the last and I have no reason to believe the next one won't do the same. It's the stupid sh%$ that annoys everyone, like the leaderboards not working. But I love the ethos of TGCTours and always will. We're lucky to have it.
