Dear TST enthusiasts,
This week is the Sawgrass Championship at.. Sawgrass! Slower greens this week but they dry out a bit the first few days and especially with the wind on Saturday. Then some overnight rain to create softer greens and perfect scoring conditions on Sunday.
Have fun and good luck, Frans

Been looking forward to this all week. Sawgrass is probably my favourite course from watching The Players as a kid and then going there when on holiday. Just a fantastic course. And the tee shot on 18 is absolutely terrifying irl.
Shame about the slow greens this week but given the HB design choice with those slopes around the pins it’s a necessary evil. Always enjoyable to play a few rounds there.
Play well all.

Eliminated the bogies in round 2 and knocked in 10 birdies so -13 at the half way point

Hit the wood at the front of the 17th and bounced into the water at the back of the hole in round 3 for a filthy double bogey but still managed to walk off with a -4.
Frustrating final round lipping out several birdies and an eagle attempt and 3 putted 17 for bogey.... -7 for a -24 total.

A bizarre tournament for me.
R1: -5 R2: -9 R3: +10 R4: -1
Tot: -5
I hammered a 10 ft birdie putt off the pin for a par on the very 1st hole and it was a warning for what would come. I fought my way to a -5 in the first round after recomposing myself but felt like I left a lot out there. Second round was my second best round of the season and I only missed 5 putts. just a sublime round. I couldn't buy a putt in round 3 and was sloppy on my approaches. I was a bad, but not terrible, -3 going into 17 then missed the island green 3 times before salvaging a 9. bogeyed 18 for good measure to more than erase my -9 in the round before. Just a brutal swing on the last two holes. completely lost my timing on 17 and the bad vibes carried through to 18. Couldn't get anything going in the final round. I lost track of lipped putts sometime in the middle of the third round and then started leaving putts a few inches short or dropping them an inch behind the hole. I had 41 missed putts for the tourney which is 3 better than my goal, but it is tough when they are concentrated into 2 rounds instead of spread out.
I really thought I had found my groove after R2 but was humbled by another 2k course with the slopy pin locations. Just sped through R4 to get it over with after tanking in the third.

-3 (after +3 on hole 2 with a 5 putt on a par 5) in R1. -6 in R2. -9 at half.
Well, uhh... it's like I barely remember how to play this format at times and then there are times that I do. Need to get it balanced out to a neat middle.
Also, here's the defending 2nd flight champ of this event, a thing I have never gotten the chance to say before in any context but it's the truth this week!
Cheers, good luck.

-4 and -3 for starters. Onward! -4 and -6 (which was very sour with a wet triple on the last) for my best TST finish in relation to par, -17! Onward!

Wasn't doing too bad... until back-to-back snowmen on 16 and 17 (total of 4 water balls, 1st on 17 was a cruel kick in the nuts being so good but a yard short) in R3 knocked all wind outta my sails. And all the near misses too which had even a third of things gone in instead of sailing just past the hole would have been giving me a healthier score, but...
+4 and E weekend = -5.
Death. Despair. Forgetfulness and into next week.
Cheers, good luck.
