Lake Cadaver
To truly appreciate the Golf Club at Lake Cadaver, one must also get a true understanding of the sad and somewhat sinister history of the land on which it was built. Legend has it that the property was originally owned by a singer/songwriter who liked to holiday in the region and spend his time at the family holiday house and fishing on the lake. One summer, the young son of this musician went out on the lake with a friend (known as ‘Tex’) but only the son returned. All attempts at finding Tex were fruitless and the son wouldn’t say a word about what had occurred. As such, he was cast out by his father and they left him at their house by the lake to be home schooled under the tutelage of a Mr B. Page (a teacher and known golf enthusiast/’designer’). As the years went on, the young boy would become increasingly frustrated at Mr Pages’s constant advice and Pommy accent. As such, he became very violent. He wouldn’t listen to any more ‘tips’ from Mr Page especially when it came to golf course architecture. Mr Page would inevitably also desert the boy and left him to live out his life in solitude.
Over the coming years, the lake and surrounds became very popular with tourists however it started to become known that many tourists that visited the area never returned home. It was only rumoured and could never been proven, but it was said that the young boy (now a very grown man) would invite tourists to his house by luring them with promises of free kegs of beer. Once he had them inside, he would ask them 3 obscure golf related questions. If they answered ‘no’ to any of his questions, the victim would suffer a horrific death. It is believed the questions were:
1. Would you play golf in the pitch dark of Babylon, even in a video game?
2. Would you like to play a short 4 with a rock archway?
3. Do you like rocks on fairways?
As a result, no victim ever saw the light of another day and their remains are believed to be buried under that same house.
Over time, there was no more room under the house as the bodies piled up so he had to figure out a way of disposing of the bodies efficiently. He would drag them to a very steep cliff face on the edge of the lake and throw the bodies into the water. It is said he would sing ‘free falling’ as the limp cold bodies flew over the cliff edge.
In the coming years local fishermen would find skeletal remains that would appear on the lake and hence named the area, Lake Cadaver. No proof of the murders could ever be made however many locals believe the killer known as “Son of Tom” still lives in the old rickety clifftop holiday house, drinking beer and playing virtual golf video games.

The real stuff. Petty had the following requirements for his plot –
1. No major land sculpting. – As such only the tees and greens have been smoothed out.
2. Lighting & weather cannot be changed – Done
3. Have a signature par 3 that highlights Howling Wolf Rock – The 10th hole although quite a few holes highlight the rock.
4. Highlight the native American burial site if that land was used – The 15th Green/16th Tee
5. Have 5 of the 18 holes in the areas he’d marked on the plot – Done
6. Clubhouse and amenities were to be modern, upscale & custom as they are very important to the development venture’s success. –
The Lake Cadaver clubhouse stands as a picturesque retreat, harmonizing with the natural beauty that surrounds it. This architectural gem boasts a distinctive charm, with its white peaked rooftop reminiscent of the snow-capped peaks that dominate the horizon. Use the driving range & practice putting/chipping areas, play tennis, have fun on the rooftop bbq area with a putt putt hole, frequent the large BBQ areas on the clubhouse terraces or just take a dip in one of the luxurious pools. Stay in one of the 5 star lodgings that overlook the 16th hole and then book a fishing charter on the lake. Plenty of amenities available for income generation! Oh and if you’re brave, go take a look at “Son of Tom’s” house. You might get a free beer.
7. The treed areas must remain but can be replanted to scale with what was already there. – Done and also added a shitload of trees of the same scale.
8. The developer is adamant that the course feel like a walk through nature and not that of a manufactured environment. The routing should highlight the natural features provided by the plot. The developer also lectured us on the importance of conservation and limiting construction equipment. – As such, the course is completely carved through the natural surrounds with only small tees, fairways and greens being laid. There are no manufactured bunkers and the land used for the ‘rough hazard’ mounds on the course were excavated from the underground clubhouse carpark. This course very much feels like a ‘walk through nature’ as intended.

Was aiming for a CC level of difficulty and plays best from the back tees (green tees). Enjoy...at our your own risk.
