I thought we were supposed to be able to drop after hitting in hazard? I ended up having to play a 240 yard shot on 18 after a bad backward hop into the drink. No option to drop...any thoughts? Maybe I'm missing something.

It seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes I get the option to drop and sometimes I do not. Others have said the same. It's definitely still a little buggy.

Is it an option when the creating a course to make a pond, lake, creek, etc. a water hazard or a lateral water hazard?

It's been an issue since they put it in. Basically exactly as OP described. If you cross a hazard, then bounce back into it, you get a stroke and distance penalty like it was before the drop. its good when it works, just has a mind of its own if it will let you use it or not
