Dear TST enthusiasts, For our Los Angeles Open, I'm taking you to ... San Francisco! Two reasons: 2K/HB's Riviera is not suitable for TST play and this course, the Cal Club, is just a wonderful place to play TST. It's not easy, it's not silly - it's lovely. Have fun and good luck, Frans

Going to play this week with the Elite Series 2 controller. It will not be easy. It will be very silly (and frustrating). Goal: +30 or better edit: considering most of the time I have 2 polling points with this controller (a little fast and barely inside the "good" slow) this is a bit of a shocker. Guess the sun shines on every dogs arse once in a while. -1 E +2 +3 = +4

I ain’t no Top Dog, so much is clear… but am I a Talent?
Round 1: -4 Round 2: -9 Round 3: -8
Mmm, slowly improving but two double bogeys in the first two rounds really aren’t signs of talent… 😂😂😂

R1: +1
Really bizarre round. Lipped 4 putts on the right side of the cup and pushed a 5ft putt 2 feet to the left. Had a nice eagle and followed it up with a 5-putt triple bogey where I kept slamming 8 ft putts for 15 ft until I got lucky and one dropped. Make the 5fter, half the lips and 3-putt the 5-putt hole and I'd have a -4 and be pretty damn happy. I was on full tilt the entire round even though I had one of my best tee to green rounds in a while. Didn't help that the default greens on my practice round were 171 and this round was a 155. I couldn't read the 155s last week and the struggle continues here.

R2: -2
Tot: -1 halfway home
Another lip out to the right and lip out to the left, and 3 more puts that rolled over the left edge of the cup. Inches from another really good round. Just can't quite knock down these putts. My timing got away from me so I had to scramble more. 28 missed putts through 2 rounds with 6 lip outs and a handful more that had too much pace to drop. 3 misses inside 5ft and only 1 make on 19 putts over 10. Even with average putting by my standards, I'd be around 7 under at the midpoint.

Never hit so many perfect tempo shots in one round before (100% FIR) but also never had as many 3 putts either. Had zero luck out there at all including landing on the top of the flag stick (not just bouncing off it but actually hitting the top) on one of my approaches that sent me 45 yards away from the green 🤬🤬 end result was a 1 under first round that leaves me trailing oswinner by a stroke ... Fuming haha

1 missed fairway in round 2 but no 3 putts and so no bogies -5 to be 6 under at the halfway stage

Fuming haha Sounds like the opposite to me. Couldn’t hit the ball straight but putted really well (25 putts, no three putts R1). Then the putter stopped working last two rounds… I’ll beat you again, one day…

R3: -4 Putted incredibly well until the 15th. Damn near lipped an albatross, then missed the 4 ft eagle, lipped the 4 foot birdie, and settled for par. Apoplectic. I even briefly laughed at the thought of a three putt par after my approach then it happened. Somehow hit a 15ft eagle putt on 17 to bounce back. 10 missed putts including 2 from inside 5 and another from 7. rest of my misses were beyond 10. I am inches away from -15 after 3. Funny how our brains remember ever single near make but quickly forget about the lucky makes and near misses. I'm sure they have mostly evened out but it sure doesn't feel like it!

R4: -3
Tot: -8
Missed a 4ft birdie putt on the first hole because my thumb went straight left at the end. and lipped a 6 ft birdie on 18. 16 missed putts in total. LMAO, just a cursed putting tournament. 5 missed putts inside of 5 feet. Only two makes over 10 ft. 54 missed putts, normally I'll miss 44 or so. Might have been my best tournament when it comes to approaches as I averaged 24.2 ft. Just couldn't buy a putt for the second week in a row.

Squeezed my opening rounds either side of a trip to my nation's capital. A Monday meet up with an old mate and all we saw was the inside of several Edinburgh pubs.
A couple of my better TST rounds. The benign conditions didn't prevent me succumbing to the usual three putts and slow approaches finding bunkers. I did manage to sink a few putts and even tapped in an eagle on the short par 5. Minus six and minus four sees me clutching at the coat tails of the boss. All-in-all a better week so far. I put it all down to changing my avatar to some sort of Latin Lothario, you definitely wouldn't ask him to show your daughter round town, and it definitely seems to have improved my game.

Funny how quickly True Sim can humble you - shot a solid -5 in round 1, and then birdied three of the first five holes in round two to get to -8. Of course, things went a bit sideways at that point, just one birdie and three bogies the rest of the way. So sitting at -6 after two.
As always, happy to be under par - but felt like I let a really good tournament slip away.

Not sure what got into me, or if rounds three and four played that much easier, but had two of my best rounds in True Sim (-12 and -9) to close at -27 overall. Let's play this course again.
