Hi all,
Wondering how the Withdrawn demotion marks work these days. In the rules section it states 2 demotion marks for a Withdrawn player.
However I am looking at someone's season record for Kinetic and it states they have been Withdrawn 4x, missed the cut 1x and made the cut 1x in 6 events.
Doesn't that add up to 7 demotion marks?? And yet they only have 4 demotion marks. What am I misunderstanding here guys?

I may have answered my own question, here but if you make the cut and then get Withdrawn in the same event is it only 1 demotion mark?

WD = 2 demo marks make cut = clear a demo mark
We don't demote via WD's so that's why he's still at 4 demo marks.

That would be it then Doyley. Thanks for the explanation.

Was just thinking this through Doyley. Doesn't this encourage people to game the system. Using the player I describe above as an example, if he is on 4 demotion points, he could play up to the 17th hole 2nd round each week and decide to just quit if his score is so low? Therefore getting a WD and continually avoiding demotion?

I think it's more for intentional WDs to move down to lower tiers to gain a victory and move back up. That means a better player tearing it up with lesser competition.. I believe that's why they don't demote on WDs alone.

Just withdraw 2 weeks in a row and then shoot a crappy 2 rounds. A little more effort I guess. WD's have an impact on all players in the tournament, that's the angle I am coming from.
