Dear TST enthusiasts, For our Hawaii Open, I'm taking you to... Hawaii!!! We play Mauna Kea - a Robert Trent Jones, Sr. & sons (re)design. As to be expected, there's a bit of wind when we start of but you guys are lucky, because for rounds 2 and 3 it is unusually calm. Wind returns on round 4 but nothing too extreme and you should be able to score well. Participation numbers were quite encouraging last week and looks like I'll be able to create two flights in two weeks from now; everyone that completes three tournaments will be assigned a flight automatically. I will also start sharing the Road to the Playoffs money list as of this week, which will decide starting positions/strokes for the Tour Championship. So, so far so good after our switch to Master... spread the word! And for you stroll on Mauna Kea: have fun and good luck! Frans

Really nice to have this back on my playlist.
Hardly setting the world on fire mind, but then I didn't last time I was here!!
A very pleasant stroll round a courses fondly remembered from my Links days...
Concentrating on trying to get under par and avoiding 3 putts, mostly successful so far...
Round 1 -1
Round 2 -3
...for a scintillating 4 under at half time.

Don’t worry he’s still around, still trying to reach greens by cutting corners and using the driver for everything but putting! 🤣

For all my big talk I’ve been wanting to play this all day so I guess I’ll just shut up from now on 😂
Will go live at if anyone wants to remind me how much I complain and laugh when I shoot over par! Will be doing one round on TAN first.
This is another bloody (nice) course with big elevation changes isn’t it?!

The false front and slopes on the greens were so punitive if you were even slightly off on judgement or tempo. I actually think on some of those short par fours you’re almost better off leaving a full wedge as opposed to a chip or a pitch. Is that a new version of the course? I don’t remember enjoying it this much. Great setup that. Finished up -34. Shots from 80 yards and in will cost me a challenge this week.

It’s the same one we played last year, but I’ve got better at setting them up… 😎😎😎

Putting is letting me down big time. I don't think I was ever good at it here but certainly seen better before!
-4 in R1... that score from last 3 holes after being even after 15.
Took 4 or 5 putts in the drivable 4 in R2 for a 7. Ended +1. Sitting at -3 after 2.
Moral of the story so far: if you struggle with putting, do something like this instead to skip it (hole 16 R1):

Finished up the week. Didn't make much of a dent in the score but no over par rounds so it'll do for me. Onward!!!

Greetings,
This was NOT the Vandelay Way. I scored better in the windy first than the calm second. Weird.
Rd 1 -6
Rd 2 -1
Just love the course, great job Frans.
Onward!
