Evian resort (Lidar)

Hi,

   Back before the summer, I had the good news that Lidar data was available for some parts of France and, luckily, Evian was in the lands available. So, I gathered the data and generated the course for PGA 2K23.

   Now, I start to work really on the course (bellow is the first sight at the 18th green). I had to redo the course from Lidar due to some elevation problems, but now the course is really ready for work.

   I've seen that the course was done in EA PGA Tour and I can say I may do something as good, even better on some spots (at least we will not have those stupid grand stands which never have been on the course for the championship)

   What you will not enjoy is a realistic background, as no one for 2K23 fits, even loosely, the real one.

   No realistic club-house and surrounding buildings either, and no starter shack and so on.

   I really beg the developers to give us some standard buildings so we can compose more various club-houses form them (like pieces of Lego). This will be far more useful than pumpkins, graves of sugar candy !

   I will try to update the design progress in this thread.

Hi,

    I progress slowly as the first part of the course is clearly the hardest to render. Now, enjoy the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. With no buildings as I still have a memory problem. I'll have so sacrifice some tree shapes to be able to put some houses...

It is on its way, and I think I will publish but I'm very dissatisfied with the surroundings. First, the horizon background and more of that all the houses around the course which cannot be rendered with the present stock ones and take the memory of the course over 100%.

So, I hope the next version will allow me to give a better tribute to that course.

Hi,

After a holidays pause, here are the next holes.

As I said, the surroundings really suck but I managed to avoid them in those views. That said, and as it is Lidar, the course plays really fair to the original, from a golfing perspective.

The par 5 9th (the fairway bunkers are hidden by their mounds) :

You have to cross the road which borders the top of the course to play the long 12th par 4 :

Hi,

   The course is almost completed now and ready to go under test. I've managed to do the housing with only 4 objects and I near the 100% memory gauge. However, I the player is focused on the course, those houses do not seem to weird. I really hope that in a next version we will have more diverse European style houses.
