Seems to be another Unreal Engine 4 game that suffers with shader compilation issues. I get really good framerates and it looks great but it has really bad stutters now and again. Hopefully they sort this out as we shouldn't have to deal with this crap with so many UE4 games on PC, I was worried when I heard it was an UE4 game unlike Dirt Rally 2 which runs great.

I just did a stage in an Iberia Rally that was 15 minutes long and I was playing medium distance, so imagine how long stages can be when set to long distance. I think there is a bit of traversal stutter also as parts of the stage loads in while you're driving.
Regarding the shader compilation stutter the game doesn't pre compile shaders which would really help with that.
There is a big improvement from Dirt Rally 2.0 though it does play similarly, much better damage physics if you rank up that difficulty. Had a tyre blowout and a barrier ripped my front bumper off.
I read that there are over 70 cars and 200 stages in the game, so plenty of content.

Had a dabble so far. The graphical issues are a bit of a PITA. Tried both wheel and controller. Not very good at Rally games so it’ll be slow progress!! Plenty of cars and stages to choose from. Have got high hopes for it.

Just spent the last hour watching you tube vids of gameplay and a deep dive of the career. The car upgrade system, build a car, 200+ stages with some long ones. The depth to the career and other modes like the rivals etc.

Sold. My old system will struggle but can't be near as bad as Forza can it? lol

Put it on my Steam wishlist. Not doing it today as I don't feel like sucking up my bandwidth doing the preload download.

Graphic issues, hope these are not too bad. Can't be as bad as me crashing to desktop every 3'rd race in forza.

Hopefully the stuttering can be fixed as I hear there are performance problems on PS5 also, though they seem to nearly disappear the more I played which happens when shaders are loaded in and you play the stage for the second time. I am gonna download the game to my Asus ROG Ally to see how it performs on the handheld in desktop mode plugged into a monitor just to see how it performs on a lower spec PC.
From the few hours I played yesterday this is better than previous Codemasters Rally games

They do have a patch in the pipeline to fix the shader stutter thing,

2023. Year of shader hell.

This is my Forza boot every single time. I've seen people saying it's an AMD video card issue. I have nvidea. Guess it happens to a lot of other people too. Think I saw something about this being fixed in the upcoming forza patch which is way too far out for me. 2 weeks.



Ok, enough internet chatting for me. Time to hit Cities and work on my city.

I have an Nvidia card and it doesn't optimise shaders every time for Forza Motorsport, I do have that problem on Jedi Survivor but I hear it does it on all systems and that game has performance problems even after pre shader compilation.
I am sure Codemasters will fix it as they are a really good developer. They are new to UA4 as I think their other games use their own EGO engine.

Yes it is on physical media on Xbox Series X.

Just updated to the latest nvidia driver and had a go tonight without issue.

Also changed my steering angle in gHub to 540 and found it much better.

huh. I totally missed this coming out. I love the Dirt Rally games.
