Hopefully some of the big boys chime in also. During your swing do you keep your eyes on the ball or the avatars backswing or something else? Any other interesting nuances to add that you feel help your tempo?

It depends on what I'm doing. On tee shots and approach shots, I focus on something in the background and allow my peripheral vision to help with swing timing. Putting or chipping I tend to look the ball.

Like in the real game I find I hit a better ball by focussing on the ball.

always and only eyes focused on the ball until impact and beyond, if I don't do this... the ball goes into the lake. with the exception of the putt, I look at the line... hoping it's the right one
in any case, despite the thousands of hours spent with this damned game, I still suck

Eyes on the avatar outside of putting, it seems to help with my tempo - there's some sort of brain connection for me between seeing the very top of the backswing and good downswing timing.

Like in the real game, I find I hit a better ball by closing my eyes

Good stuff all. I've also tried avatar, peripheral and found the best results with focusing on ball. Swing plane a clear winner with focusing on ball, for me anyway.

In 21 I focused on the top of the avatar's backswing on all shots except putting where I focus on the hole.
In 23 I look at the target tee to green and again focus on the hole when putting.

I look at the avatar, for some reason my swing timing works better on the iron shots if I watch the avatar's hands rather than the club. With putting I guess I am looking at the club head but mostly timing the backswing by feel rather than by eyes

Eye on Avatar/clubhead for a couple takeaways...then focus on ball...fire!

If my swing feels off or trouble with timing I’ll watch my avatars front leg and wait to see the knee bend to start my downswing. Otherwise it’s eyes on the ball except putting I usually eye up the line and look to the hole during my swing.
