Dear TST enthusiasts, This week we play Olympia Fields (North), just like Rory, Tom, Jon and... errr... Lucas??? After last week's compliments for the pin positions and speed of the greens, I encouraged the greenskeeper to not water them this week.  However, he insisted after two rounds that he'd be without a job and with a permanent mark in the shape of a 9 iron on his forehead if he didn't throw some moist on them before the weekend. So, that should give you a clear idea of what you need to do to score well and move up on the money list (https://www.tgctours.com/Tour/MoneyList?tourId=5&season=2023) before the start of our Tour Championship next week! Round 1: -6 Round 2: +3 Have grabbed my 9 iron and now chasing the GreensKeeper… Hmmm…. But aren’t you the greenskeeper? -6 and somehow pulled off a -4 in the 2nd round despite a blasted 4 putt! -10 at the halfway point and hoping for some rain. |

Very consistent from round to round. Had 5 birds in each of the first three with 2, 3, and 2 bogies, then 6 birds and 2 bogies in the final round. Missed 6 putts plus made 1 chip in the first, missed 10 in the second, 12 in the third and 8 in the 4th for 36 total missed putts. Currently tied for 1st in short putts, barely in second in medium putts and in 1st by nearly 12% in long putts on PS. I think I owe the greenskeeper a beer or 5 in the clubhouse (especially after last week!) Second round had 2 three putts after bad approaches and 1 putt/chip/putt after a downhill putt got away from me. Lipped about 6 putts throughout the rounds and just missed a few more but had an equal number of lip ins. I think I was within 7 ft on every greenside bunker shot and only failed to 1 putt on 1 of them. Had some wonky chips and flops to keep from a truly special tournament. Almost lost my cool after lipping my 1st putt on holes 9-11 during the third round to go from E/-1/E to +1/E/+1, but lipped in 12 and 13 to recompose my self with a couple birdies.
Those greens are brutal, especially in the second round, but made for a fun tightrope act.

Eff these PC load times....spend more time waiting for scoreboards and holes to load than bloody playing the round.

+1, +2 = +3 thru 2.
Going to be a far cry from my 14th place best TST finish from last week. Not surprised, the times I have great weeks, it has to go back to awful the next.
What can I still do in the last rounds? I'll try to find out later, so that my terrible playing will not take me out first.

Well what I did manage to do on the weekend rounds is to scrap back to under par and stay there thanks mainly to R3. -4 in R3, highlight of a 15th hole eagle. -1 in R4. Nothing really of note there. Edited to point out it totals to -2 for the week! So forgettable this week that it almost didn't matter! Off to the tour championship. Not really the best form to go in there but it won't matter to me because no bonus strokes for me, or anything like that. If I'm in top 30 of money list after the week is final, I'd qualify it as "making it" there and thus can put a single little asterisk to this season's success.
