After completing my Island course I wanted to get back into LiDAR and try something interesting with some elevation. One of the holes from my last course was spotted on a google search and had me intrigued, this photo here. So I went about trying to recreate it as the 9th on my course and only later found out it was the 5th at Ballyhack. There was a version in '21 but it needed some love. No offense, but LiDAR is more than taking some elevation data sticking OSM over it and hitting publish. So after getting the LiDAR data and OSM data and sticking them through the 19/21/23 process I've come up with what looks like a very exciting course. As it sits today I've done nothing more than map out the holes and stick 3 tee boxes down true to the original lengths. Oh and build 153 bunkers from an assortment of shapes using Stealth to map out the original shapes as much as you can with the designer constraints. Scorecard It has a clubhouse The course so far looks like... The 5th The 10th The 13/15 green complex The 18th As for the greens, they are on the wild side. This is the 1st at 146... Onwards...

Looking forward to your version of Ballyhack. That photo of no. 5 is insane. I recall looking at a Google Maps overhead of this course and although I knew the area was hilly did not expect an approach to a hole to be quite like that. That must be at least a 3 club-up shot ?? Good luck with the remainder of the design.

Looking forward to following along. FYI, this is the sort of course where you want around 120 greens at maximum.

Sandgroper let me play an early version and I'm not saying that the course is hilly or anything but there is a sign on the 1st tee that says "You must be this high to ride this ride" and them greens are angry.

A little update to how things are going. Front 9 is planted with heavy rough grasses. Meter is only at 43% but file size is at 68%. It's obvious that planting the same grass eats up the file size. Currently 7.1Mb 2nd green 7th green 8th fairway 8th green 9th tee Feedback welcome...

Thanks for the video. They have a hole by hole on their website so I’ve been studying it thoroughly.
