Welcome to Pipidinny Pines Golf Club
Pipidinny Pines golf course is my entry for the TGC Tours - Season 9 - World Cup of Design. Inspiration for the course environment comes from my younger days fishing at beaches North of Perth, including Pipidinny, and cycling or hiking near pine plantations in the same area. Pines, sandhills, beach and bush. About the CourseThe somewhat dodgy back-story is that Pipidinny Pines golf course was developed between a well known mining magnate and the Yanchep Development Corporation, but I had a hand in it too. The course was completed in 1985 and the Pipidinny Pines Golf Club incorporated in early 1986. The course added some welcome competition to the established Sun City Country Club and newly opened Joondalup Country Club in the Northern suburbs of Perth. Situated about 50kms North of Perth in a rural setting, between preserved mature pine plantations and the Indian Ocean, this links inspired course wraps around more than half of the Lake Pipidinny estuarine wetlands. Pipidinny Pines is a links style bushland course with no shortage of pot style bunkers to negotiate. As fairway bunkers, they sometimes dictate a more lofted club to escape than would otherwise be the case. Many of the fairways and greens undulate significantly similar to a links course. There is a fairly equal mix of dog-leg left and dog-leg right holes, with some balance of uphill and downhill shots. Trees do not come into play on many holes. Five holes on the back nine require shots over water and a further four holes have water nearby fairway or green. There are definitely some holes requiring different strategic choices depending on the wind/weather conditions. The course should play Easy in most conditions, based on my playing skills (or lack thereof) during play testing. I would like to thank all those involved in organising all the contests and b101 for all his efforts in this years World Cup of Design. Fingers crossed and good luck to all contestants. Enjoy your rounds on Pipidinny Pines. Course Design Settings- Greens - Firm - Medium Fast (7.6)

Hey Rickster, I called out a couple of the local spots, let me know how close I was. Course is cracking, loved the colour palette and planting. Bunkers were a standout. Loved the home stretch with lots of strategy.

Hey greenlightning, glad you enjoyed the course and thanks for the nice comment.
Your spot on sandgroper with identifying the local spots. Enjoyed your play-thru - thanks so much. I now know I need to tone down the colour on my Samsung screen, as the colours on your play-thru look much more realistic.
Cheers to you both

Played Pipidinny last night. IMO your best course yet. Loved the environment and genuinely penalising bunkering with the high faces. Great use of the sloping property. My only critique, and a very small one at that, was I thought the fairways were a little repetitive. Would have liked to have seen a little more width on some holes to allow some options and angles into greens. Having said that I did love the challenge of hitting those fairways and there were options available in terms of lay up or go long with the driver. Well done and all the best in the comp!

Thanks for the nice comments blueblood1995. You're probably right about the fairways, should have at least a few holes that allow more routes to the green. I will start working on a Tour version next week, and there are a number of holes I could easily add some additional fairway width/options. I will seriously consider this.
Cheers

As others have said, the environment work and hole ideas are really good. A few small tweaks, which hopefully this playthrough gives you and you'll be making some awesome courses - look forward to following your progress and best of luck!
