Hi all,
My next course isn't exactly mine, as it is a recreation of a course I liked a lot some 30 years ago in the JNSE game. I've had the occasion to bring it under Links and TGC but I started this design from scratch.
Interesting is, as I wanted to get slightly different elevations, I come back to the same look and feel I used to know. This should mean though it is a fictional course, it exist as this in my mind. As there is a huge gap from JNSE to 2K23, those who may have played it long, long ago may not recognize it very well. Anyway, it was a great course at the time and I hope this design will do justice to the original.
So, here's a little teaser of the first 4 holes loop at Estate Heights G.C., original design for JNSE by Bob Polin. At the bottom you can see the 18th(left) and 9th greens. May be I'll do two routings,as finishing by the 9th could be interesting...

Maybe the exposed dirt/rock look is what you are after but IF you wanted to make the grass come to the water edge you could use the double water pane technique. Go to your ponds, make 1 water pane large enough to cover the ponds (or almost the entire plot if you want), then lower that pane as low as it can go and watch the grass come to to the water edge, you can play with the pane's depth to vary the effect. To see it in a video that I did, It's for water and retaining walls but cover the technique too ... FF'd to the part showing it being done. Water Hazards and Retaining Walls Part 2
