Just published Chile Norte WIP. Would greatly appreciate feedback.
Based on a real area in Northern Chile where the high desert mountains meet the Pacific Ocean. Abandoned town, mining area and small military base are the setting. Designed with great width, this is intended to be played in the highest winds. Only 2 tees for now and they are set up as "alternates" both about same distance. Greens/pins built to handle max speed, but I prefer them closer to ~12.5 and can still be interesting even slower.
Some positives: I like the variety of distances for the par 3s and par 4s. I like that the par 3s and par 5s all play in different directions, I thought especially important for the high winds. All 4 pins positions seem balanced equally for front/back, left/right and difficulty.
Some negatives: I have grown to hate the 2 shortest par 4s (#7 and #17) - seeking tips/suggestions on those. #6 isn't my favorite either. I like the setting for #11 and #12 greens, but they feel repetitive consecutively.
Some undecideds: The color texture of the light rough, going for dormant look...? #5 right tee going over the fort...? Old mine shaft dividing #12 fairway, currently as water hazard but should I make OB...?
The goal for the environment, the flatter land by the ocean I used light rough everywhere to show it as more "fertile" and left the highland holes bare. Used similar grasses and bushes throughout to tie them together; again very sparse in the desert highlands and pretty full on the ocean flat. I'm not finished but I like where that is headed, any thoughts on that?
The abandoned village is terrible too. I used several varieties of houses, still trying to decide how I can make a town look 50+ years abandoned with the options.
Was just getting started on object details and thought I might as well pause and wait for feedback.
Thanks in advance Design-Crazy-Community!
