So I've had % distance control on for putting and want to go without it but wondering what the best route is. Do most use vibration as a guide or is there some formula for different green speeds and how much of a putting stroke you take? I have tried the vibration and it's ok but I hate it when taking regular swings. Thanks.

For putting, many people use vibration, some use practice swings to find out where the aim point is, a few use set putting swings (specific points in the player's animation) that they know will go a set strength.
I feel like most people only use full swings outside of putting. If you play with the spin and loft, you never need to use a partial shot. But you have to map out your clubs and that takes some time.

I kind of have the alignment down reasonably well it's more about distance control without that % cheat enabled, lol.

I am certainly no great putter, but playing on PC/Mouse I cannot use the vibration help, so I just take practice putts until I think I have homed in on the right distance. Sometime you can get the exact number, but it is mostly just making sure you are close enough. This does slow down the game though.

So practice putts show the % of your swing but what % is needed on a 20' putt on slow vs fast greens is my issue. With distance control on it would show you you need 32% on a fast green but 38% on a slower green. What I'm trying to figure out is how to know what % backswing I need to be in the ballpark on any particular putt through a formula like you do on elevation changes.

No, the green speed is taken into account when the result of the practice swing is shown; it is basically the same as shown on the putting meter when you use that. I have never used distance control so I cannot speak to that.

I putt the same as I do in real life, no practice strokes, it's all feel for me. I can't be arsed doing calculations and whatever. After a while you get used to how far to pull back for whatever distance. You can get away with not being perfect for pace on the straighter putts, can be a bit more of a problem on big breakers though.

PS 5 Vibration all the way for me. Never move the distance, only to the side to account for break. You get used to where in the vibration to swing forwards depending on slope, speed etc. That’s how I do it anyway. You just have to find what works for you. Cheers.

sask3m Left Thumbstick PS5 - DualSense Vibration On I'm no top level 2K23 player, but hole my share of putts every now and then and feel I can judge the distance on the longer ones reasonably well, but my reads are sometimes a bit wide of the mark ,lol. The game usually does a decent job of putting the marker at a suitable spot taking uphill/downhill in to account so you just have to adjust the left/right aim. I just make one or two practice pull backs on the thumbstick to see/feel where the vibration starts and then make my putt. I will often set the distance marker myself and not just let the game dictate where it should be. Just takes a bit of practice coming from meter on to meter off but I'm sure you'll soon make the adjustment.

I just played my first tgc qualifying tournament, Cracked Open at the miner’s links course. Faster greens than I’m used to. I found I needed the vibration and practice swings on almost everything except tee shots to get some decent results. Some of these breaks were killing me, and I missed way more putts than I would in a Ranked match (pro and distance control and meter on). Started to pull back on the distance aim point to keep me from sailing 20 ft past the hole on each of those, but that requires more break.
I ended up +8 and know I could’ve been -8 or more if I could eliminate those near misses, but that’s going to take more practice. But so far the key to get from +30 in a single round to +8 over 4 rounds was practice swings and vibration.
