I was previously part of the tour here around a year and a half ago, played every week etc. Then life and work and kids got in the way of my gaming time. I'm returning now (I see I'm still part of the league I was in before. Nice that I can just come straight back, much appreciated), but I've forgotten how a few things work, so this might be a bit of a 'duh' question.
I've just purchased PGA2K23, and so my created player is non-existent in terms of stats/level. Does that matter on the events, or once you're online, are all things equal other than your actual skill?
Cheers.

No, all things are not equal, you will be playing against people with all their fittings on to start with, and they do make a difference. Doesn't mean you can't still play though, and the more you play the more you will build your golfer. I would recommend speed golfing the career mode on 1 round events with the easiest AI settings to win some vc and other stuff. Think of those as warm up rounds, make sure the swing is TGCT settings. Don't waste precious vc fitting stuff you don't really want, keep trading those up until you get what you do want.
