Just tried to qualify for the Masters and finished dead last. I find master clubs so difficult, bogey after bogey after bogey, its just not fun anymore.

Sorry kenny. When you say Master clubs, you mean swing tempo right? Have you done skills/fittings?

I think skills are less important than the fittings, but look around your My Player page, you get a point per level to add to different swing skills. Some of the final ones require unlocking of the earlier skills...

I'm still not very good on Masters, but between setting my archetype at rhythm and focusing on Timing/Swing Path (which maximizes my grey area) I do at least have a better chance of hitting what I aim at. I give up distance in doing so, however.

I went rhythm a ways back and really worked on maximizing power on my fittings. You will sacrifice some timing, but I don't think I have any clubs that are under 80 in that category.
I did a ton of tinkering with fittings to find that balance, but I've got plenty of distance now along with solid-enough timings on my clubs.

Most of us didn't even play since only the truly elite will qualify. So you were playing against a pretty tough crowd. I sacrificed power for timing for quite a while. I tweaked up the power and lie percentage a bit at the cost of timing and so far it has not hurt me, but to me getting a good swing is much more important than distance.

What part of your game are you struggling most with? The whole assumption is tempo, but now we have swingplane, putter weight/path in the picture. So kennyc if you tell me what parts of the game you are struggling with I can give you some advice.

I wouldn't worry too much about qualifying for the major(s)/special events. These qualifying events are geared toward the pro caliber player, not the average CC player. It's just FOMO. If you want to play the major, you can join the society the major is played in and play alongside them (without qualifying). You're score will show on the leaderboard in game, just not on TGCTours. This would probably be a better option than wasting time suffering through a qualifying event meant for a specific target group (aka pro level players).

If you are PS and playing under the name Damien Mckenna, then you are right. But I have not completed my rounds, so don't give up hope. As the others have said, this tourney is for the Posh. We CC folks just fill the roster. Onward.

I used Sculpter as an archetype.
Tweaked driver and 3 wood to be long (60-70 timing, swing path 80)
Irons are 3, 5-9 in the set all with 90+ timing.
Wedges are 100% timing
I find this allows me to score ok
With skills I made sure to utilise only relevant ones for my clubs and focused as much as possible on timing, swing path and lie range boosts.
Hope that helps

I really struggle to chip and pitch. Driving is not great but I can live with it.

I really struggle to chip and pitch. Driving is not great but I can live with it. Depending on how partial your pitch or chip is, will dictate the speed the downswing needs to be. Chips and pitch shots are ones I will often do a practice swing or two just to dial it in. For pitches, learn how much adjusting loft and spin affects distance, you can hit full power pitches across a range of probably 15-20 yards by using loft and stop it dead with spin. Chips are often put in the right ball park. A bit of adjustment for rough/uphill downhill lie and off you go. In my mind there are almost 3 speeds for downswing for pitches and chips depending on how big the backswing is. Slow, medium and fast. The speed of the downswing on full chips and pitches is pretty fast but once you get under 50%, it is much slower. Practice and practice swings in rounds help me to get it locked in, as these are the shots that have you scoring well (or not) in rounds. That’s how I do it anyway. Hope it helps. Cheers.
