My family is caring for a rescue pup named Asher. He has been sickly for a while now but we have finally put the pieces together on what's going on. He is in almost total kidney failure, anemic, and really in bad shape. This does NOT appear to be due to a congenital problem (ultra sound didn't show any) but instead due to a terrible kidney infection. The only chance he had was to get him hospitalized TODAY with IV fluids and antibiotics to flush his kidneys entirely and give them the opportunity to recover. Honestly? He has a 50/50 chance of making it out of this. But, if he does he could live a long happy life even if he needs special food and care for all of it. This is NOT cheap and the rescue we are working with does not have the funds to do this kind of thing for every little pup that has issues. I told them I have a great group of contacts that would come through for us and they gave me the go ahead to have him hospitalized. I've set up a gofundme that goes to the rescue so they can pay the bills for this that I will link below. If you want to donate directly they have a donation link here: www.gprescue.com/donate If you want to use the gofundme it is here: gofund.me/6224d5a3

Hey Reeb, Any word on how he's doing? We had him home over the weekend and had to give him subcutaneous fluid injections a few times a day as well as antibiotic shots, nausea meds, and he's on a special diet. He went back to the vet this morning. His bloodwork was improved when he came home Saturday. Today it was pretty static. HOWEVER, from a clinical perspective he's doing better. He has more energy, seems more comfortable and happy, is eating and drinking well. His anemia is improved but part of that is because he wasn't on IV fluids the last day and a half. He received IV fluids all day today, still in an attempt to flush his kidneys from their infection. They got a partial read on the urine culture that showed a highly resistant strain of e-coli which we are now treating with oral antibiotics. Still waiting for the rest of the culture to grow so we can see what else needs to be treated. Right now just the daily stay and IV is gonna be about another $140 bucks a day plus whatever the antibiotics cost and a new blood panel probably on Thursday. I am...cautiously optimistic but this is FAR from over for this little guy. I play to try and keep him on daily IV treatments for the rest of the week. At that point if his kidney specific numbers aren't improving I'm not sure what will happen. We are doing everything we can but the well is not bottomless and really it may not be something from which he will recover. But we are trying.

Well...I have sad news. I appreciate everyone who helped out. We really couldn't have done this without folks helping.
In the last week a group here called Critter Crusaders has stepped in to take over his care. It's kind of like Annie being adopted by Daddy Warbucks in that their resources are far greater. He's had every scan, test, and treatment in the book including blood transfusion and biopsy of his kidneys and spleen, bone marrow tests... What they have discovered is that his kidneys are FAR too large, but that the cells are NOT doing what they need to do. His little body is trying to grow but his kidneys are never going to be able to keep up with him. His bones have stopped keeping up with his growth and he is in constant pain. He stopped walking a couple of days ago and even eating now hurts him.
we've done all we can do and done FAR MORE than I ever anticipated or hoped. He has fought hard. However, my wife and I are going to give him the only thing we have left to give tonight. We will hold him, pet him, sing to him...while he crosses the rainbow bridge and his pain stops. I didn't want to write this. We were committed to caring for him as a special needs dog for his entire life. However, there is no path that does not end with a painful death in the next week or two. This is what we can give him and so, with tears in our eyes we will give him a piece of our hearts tonight.
For all those that donated or even wished him well...we will carry that small piece of your heart to him as well. Goodnight buddy. We only have a few months together but in that time I fell in love with your gentle, happy, loving, snuggly spirit.

We made cards to give to the people that cared for Asher. For anyone that gave to support him...I don't have enough cards to send to everyone...but I want to share these with you too. We thank you so much for supporting our little boy.

I'm truly touched by your dedication to helping Usher, and I've contributed to the gofundme to support the rescue efforts in providing him with the necessary medical care. 🐾 It's incredibly challenging to see a furry family member in such a tough spot, but your determination to give Asher a fighting chance is heartwarming. Speaking from personal experience, when my own pet faced health issues, I explored using, in my opinion, the best CBD oil for dogs as part of their care plan. It's essential to consult with a veterinarian before trying any supplements, but in som
