Good day members,
Looking for a play test and feedback on a course I feel is finished and ready for submission. The eventual name of the course is "The Hike on Brunette" and is set on a real life island in Fortune Bay, Newfoundland, Canada. I tried to capture the landscape and rugged beauty of the island. This is a hike, so elevation and plays a key role in its theme and design. Contoured, but fair greens are defended by thick rough. I also wanted to create a course that requires smart decisions off the tee and fairway. Wayward shots are punished, but you can recover to safety. To play the beta search "THOB Beta Test".
I took my time with this project and viewed many videos by b101 and crazycanuck and took their advice in hopes of getting approved status.
All feedback is welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Hey mate I'll give this a run a bit later today. There are 5 THOB courses, can you confirm "THOB Beta Test" is the latest version? If you don't see this by the time I play, that's the one I'll look at

I had a look around at your course on the video below, I got through the first 9 before I had to shoot off.
As a standard disclaimer - I'm no authority on anything, this is just some personal thoughts on the course. I hope it's helpful.

Thank-you for the feedback and encouragement to "massage" my course. I really enjoyed listening to your commentary. You took your time, spoke with kindness and care, pointed out the positives and made gentle suggestions for improvement. I will continue to refine the course. All of your points are valid.
My initial vision was to create a course that used sharp elevation as a theme. It was meant to be a rugged hike, however, on many holes I can see how it may be jarring and frustrating, especially if the elevation creates blindness and overly strong transitions on tiered greens. I really like your ideas on the 4th fairway and 6th green to create kickers to increase interest off the tee. I also liked the idea to open up the sightlines by removing planting on 7 and 8. Further, I agree with the notion of heavy rough stopping the ball from feeding off green which makes for uninteresting play.
You finished by peeking at hole ten. It seems you had some thoughts and suggestions for improvement there as well. I would welcome further input from you on the back nine, if time allows. In the meantime, I will also revisit the back nine with your feedback on the front in mind.
Once again, thank-you. Did the chiefs win?

Yeah thanks mate, I know how difficult it can be to get useful feedback so I'm trying to be honest and trying to be productive. We're all just here to try to make cool golf courses.
Again, I don't purport to speak on anyone else's behalf, this is just my opinion and I know full well that it's all subjective and others see things differently.
The 10th was a bit strange because I was forced to drop down to an 8 iron off the tee, and then I'd be faced with a longer iron in with a forced carry over heavy rough all the way to the green. I don't think that hole would ever exist in real life.
If I do manage to get around the back nine then I'll post it here, but I've got a big week ahead so can't promise anything.
The Chiefs did win, it was a really good game. I don't support either of those sides but definitely wanted to see that one.

Fargo,
I finished the course and submitted it. I followed your advice except for the tee boxes, sorry. I would be honoured if you had another peek.
