What up guys, just finished my CC Contest course (Sandchase Country Club...cheap plug). I have a beta out for another course that needs a little focus...got too many things going on a once, but it's good ground work so I'm working on that (DV Beta 1 if you want to try it out and tell me what my focus should be...cheap plug number 2). So what's the best idea right now? Let's start a new course! Well really two new courses! Ever since watching a video on St. Andrews being played backwards, and watching The Loop at Forrest Dunes, I've wanted to make a reversible links course. My first attempt failed spectacularly (to be fair I decided to make it reversible to salvage it, I knew it was a train wreck) and both got rejected upon submission. So I'm going to try to redeem myself and go back at it again! The trick I've learned is that you have to build two greens at once, so basically instead of a tee box, you build a green, and the "tee box" will be in the fairways, so their won't be any pronounced signage, just some tee-markers down some where on the other side of the green. I'm using the highlands theme, used 50% hills to make sure that the terrain from the parts I don't use will have some contour in it. I "sunk" a section next to the water so that I can have a more natural jagged looking coastline where I plan to put some fishing vessels. My only real background aesthetic, is I want the St. Andrews town square look on holes 1 and 18, so i've mapped out a part of town where I can put a fishing village. I turned the grasses and plants all the way up and I'm going to weave my fairways around them, and then fill my bunkers within the little grass clumps that the auto generate tends to form. I have not yet figured out how to make a decent pot bunker, but if anyone knows how to do it, please share. I'm going to make my bunkers with the spline tool, i've liked the look of them better than the brush lately. Here's a rough cut of the first hole, once I make more holes those wierd gaps will be filled in. Here's the 1st/18th hole or at least the really rough cut if it right now. Hoping to have some fun with this and see how it turns out!

Hopefully this means you’re routing the Reverse OC for us on your LiDAR version!

Don't really see the demand for players to play it, I just play it and look it now again for fun reasons, another thing also with the 150th not been removed yet, don't want to push my luck to far with the people there, of course if someone can think of a name for it or want to play it just let me know..
By the way it was done before the uk asset pack, church now there behind 17th for some reason course was at 105%. last post on the subject don't like jumping in on others posts but it might help the designer with his design looking at it.

I’d absolutely play it! There was versions of Reverse OC on both the last games so would love to see a LiDAR version of it. I think just calling it “Reverse OC” would more than suffice if you decide to do it?

So here's what the project has been up to, I love how this is basically a mind@!$# because you have to consider that the hole you are creating must be played in both directions. I've decided to make 3 groups of six holes, each group of six will feature a par 5, a par 3, and 4 par 4s. So one side of the course will play 37 and the other side will play 35. The first two sets of six will basically run parrallel to each other, only splitting away from each other after the first hole and then the last set of six will three holes from each side converging on one another. So basically I'm creating two sets of sixes going in one direction while also acknowledging that one of these sets of six will initially be played backwards...it's mindbending for sure. It's kinda hard to see with all my measurement marks but no matter what direction you play the first tee remains the same, and either you will play to the right along the coastline and go counterclockwise, or go to the left inland and play clockwise...and yes I splined every single bunker lol. Here is where the loop begins, it will all converge to the ninth green, the ninth and the eighteenth greens remain the same, you will just be attacking them from different locations and elevations. If you guys want me to release a beta soon just to see how the concept works let me know.

The layout is finished, in both directions and im thinking of releasing a beta soon.
Im hoping to release two betas at once for both directions…theres still some work to do in terms of a final product but i’d like to see what you guys think

Glad to see I'm not the only crazy person. I'm trying to build a reasonable Links course...but I had to to and make it reversible after watching a bunch of Video on The Loop a few years ago.
Will be interested to play when the beta is out

Bunkers especially the fairway bunkers maybe not the best choice. The course would really looked dressed up if you had some plantings/grasses in the water areas. Overall the course played well with the exception of one green on the back nine. Maybe the 15th around there anyway. Pin Set 1. Might not have been so severe with a different pin set.

Dragon Valley has undergone some changes for sure, I'll take another look at the bunkers for sure.

The Beta for the "RED" course is up...
It's called REVERSE BETA CC...it moves counter clockwise obviously. There's still a lot to do in terms of the aesthetics but the layout of the course is done, there are three pin placements so far. The most ambitious part of the two layouts (besides that they go in reverse lol) is there are elevation changes, this means that if the hole is downhill one way, it's probably blind uphill the other way.
I'm working on rearranging the tee boxes and pins to get the clockwise layout ASAP.
Thanks guys, let me know what you think.

The Beta for the "BLACK" Course is up
It's called REVERSE BETA CW it runs in the clockwise direction, and to be honest, I think it's the more challenging direction. Play both directions and see what you think!
