S9 - Week 19 - Florida National Classic

I took a 45-minute massage in my massage chair.
After that, I proceeded to enjoy a nice hot shower.
I felt much better and more loose.
Still some tension but got geeked up with some inspirational videos.
Anyways, it all was worth it and I was on a roll.
Just missed birdie on hole one but made some crazy double breaking uphill putt on two to get me going.
Birdie on hole number 3 and I was 4 under par for the tourney.
A nice little mishit coupled with a fast swing put me into the water on 5.
We took the drop and barely got across the water from there.
The green was mean and I'm talking Mad Dog Crazy Mean.
I ended up with a nice Triple to kill my buzz.
4 difficult pars in the next four holes had me reeling.
And bogey on 10 and 11 really put salt in the wound.
I got a glimmer of hope with bird on 12 and 14.
On 15 I hit the ball within 3 feet.
I swear it was 3 F'ing Feet!
But somehow, I misread the putt and it was a hard breaker to the right and downhill.
I made a miracle 12-footer back for par, whew.
Anyways, more fighting for par and a wayward tee shot on 18 didn't help.
I layed up and knocked the 3rd shot within 6 feet and the powers that be let me make birdie.
What a fun round, course, conditions and set up.

-5, -1 for -6 at half.

All I can do is try and survive, was looking good with a bogey free round 1 and then my energy just dropped by the end of round 2. To be fair, I stopped before finishing round 2 and come back a couple hours later and while I had been shooting pretty well before that stoppage, the same can't be really said for after that. You might be able to spot where the stop came to be from my round 2 scorecard.

This is already tough and based on what I've heard about future rounds (including increased green speeds, yikes), it might get even uglier later... I gotta put the fighting boots on and try to kick this course down, even if it won't budge!

Couldn't quite get it back to even par, but happy with a +1 and -2 for the last 2 rounds. No stuttering, which helps. +1 for the week. A tough course and am happy with my score.

Tough Course and Conditions for me.
Great lighting as I really feel this video game needs to be set at Sunny and Clear all the time.
Personal Feeling and has no influence on our amazing scheduler.
In rounds 3 and 4 I kept getting it to 4 and 5 under early on.
But I would run into trouble here and there in the usual spots and on the back nine.
In round 3, I managed a 1 under par to get it to 3 under.
In round 4 I had it up to 5 under, once again, but the last couple of holes got me good.
3 putting down the hill on 17 and one water ball on 18 forced me into a 2 over par for the round.
Finished at 1 under which is better than over.
I really enjoyed the stress and tension of the tournament's highs and lows.

No idea what happened here. Can't blame fast green speeds, I just... lost my ability for a few holes at a time? Sure, putting was not great but... I don't know, way more off than I'm used to lately. For once, kind of lost in what actually happened since I have no idea so I have not much to say!

Sucks to suck but survived fairly okay. More on offer (insane amounts for a guy like me to be fair) but I guess not ready for anything super great just yet.

Ugh disaster round to finish up - had 68, 71, 70 then I check the stats and see I was next to last in driving yards so I switch to powerhouse archetype and I wasn't used to the swing. Usually I use greensman so it took 10 holes to adjust-by then I was +6 and finished with a 77. Never switching mid-tourney again! lol

Had all pars on the Bear Trap until the 17th in the final round where I bogeyed but hole 5-the long par 3 ripped me apart - yanked it 3 out of 4 rounds into the water on the left - 3 doubles and a par. So +6 was my final score for this tourney. I'm going back to greensman where I belong. Only on a really long course will I go for powerhouse archetype again.

I really think PGA National is a great course, but my goodness it destroyed me this week. It absolutely didn’t help I had no tempo to be found at all. Hopefully next week goes better back to form.
