What is the easiest way to make a patch of heavy rough in the middle of a fairway?

Don’t fill the fairway, spline fairway around where you want the rough, don’t fill that either, then go back and either paint in the fairway where you want it or spline it. Same way you’d do a fairway bunker

I use two splines - left side / right side - and overlap their points (the same method I use for transitioning from green to fairway). Then I fill them both.
