OK I've been a bit busy with other things, so TGC has taken a back seat, but last time I was looking at the courses, there was a 5 star rating available. It made it real easy to find good courses. Now I go in and I don't see any real rating system at all, something that was very useful and highly appreciated. Is it still available and I just don't see it, or has it been eliminated ?

It's been changed to a 'like' format instead of more subjective ratings.

It was sure easier before with an actual rating, now its hard to tell one course from another !

Have to say I preferred the numbers, but then you could have had a 3 from just 1 person and everyone would head for the 4/5 rated courses. Its tough to get participation in these systems. Perhaps the course rating figures on the game itself are more accurate as they reflect far more views?
I guess looking at review sites in general you sometimes see a 1 star rating for a product but then you see its only from 1 review and you click on it and see its because they bought the wrong one... Knowing how many people contributed to a score would help and maybe tying it to reviews so people can comment against their rating if they wish?
I know looking at my course which was praised by some, not by others but I see I've recently doubled my number of likes to 2... Maybe I should like it myself and go up another 50%.
Then again even the top courses don't have that many, not sure its quite working?

I'd like it if when signing our scorecard for the 4th round we had to put in a 1-10 for the course we played on.

We talked about doing this at one point. I don't remember why we never did so. May just be one of those things we put on the back burner and never got around to doing.

Yeah good point maybe, but there's people that shoot lights out whichever course they play and i'm sure they dont think every course is a 10/10. Likewise, I dont think people who normally struggle to score think every course is a 1/10.

I think the current 'like' system that is in place is far superior to the old one in theory, but in practice I think it falls down somewhat for one simple reason.........how many people actually bother to take the time to go to the course listings page and 'like' a course after they have played it ? (never mind post a review) That situation is not the TGCT staff's fault (as I said the system is great in theory) and unfortunately I cannot begin to offer a solution to it, but maybe if and when the API stuff that HB have mentioned comes into being that perhaps there might be a way to link the in-game rating numbers directly with the course listings page. (I don't know enough about how that kind of stuff works so I may be talking rubbish ) That of course will then still suffer from it being highly subjective (as the old 5-star system was) but coming from a larger pool of players it should balance itself out and give a more accurate rating in the long run.

I guess most people might like the change, as usual I must be the minority. The old system worked, maybe the new system will eventually, maybe not. Right now though all the courses pretty much look the same, which leaves most people back where we started in the beginning. Over at the HB forums, TGCTours became THE place to go for rating courses. The rating system was simple, quick and it worked. But we were also depending on others to review courses, and that isn't an easy task, but at the same time TGC has been asking for reviewers, so I'm wondering whether the like system is sort of a transitional stage right now. So now we have what 50,000 courses and no real guide to tell the good from the bad ? At the same time I know its easy to complain , but harder to come up with a solution, but so far this one isn't working, but I hope the reviews come back soon. Maybe as far as likes go we should go back to the 5 star ratings, its just easier to work with.

There have been several additional S to the review team this week. I personally will be doing at least 4 a week. Hopefully we can make some ground.

Course ratings our tough. I know alot of people liked them, but they were very subjective. I think the system we have in place SHOULD work well, but simply not enough people are using it.

..., but I hope the reviews come back soon. What do you mean by that?

It will help if the tournament leaderboard had a link to like the course. Otherwise could be "too" much for some users to take the time and search for it.
